I am reading this thread which was sent to me by Bev, after I spotted two cats. in my parsley and did not recognize them. I have grown a butterfly garden for a few years, seen several monarch cats., one chrysallis (which was gone the day after I saw it), and although I have grown parsley for over 15 years I have never seen a BST cat., in fact the only time I saw a BST was several years ago in a lilac bush. Sadly, only one of my cats. remains. It is growing well and this morning I spotted it munching away. The parsley plants seem no worse for the moment, they seem to prefer the curly over the Italian. Still wondering if I want to grow them. Lots of interesting informtion here. I just wanted to know what the result would be. I also wonder what the major predators are. I will look it up. Thanks for all the info. Northerner.

Okievegan, Well, your mom gave you great advice (Hi Moni!) and you can feed them whatever you want. We don't judge anyone here. lol I love that we just had a cooldown in the weather, even though it may not last long, because that will help soothe the pansies, who likely have been saying 'what are we doing here in this hot world?". I think they'll be fine. You can mulch or not, your choice. If you leave them unmulched, the ground might cool a little faster. However, since they're in a south-facing bed (aren't they?), mulching would also help keep the ground from heating up too much on the sunny, hot afternoons we have left in Sept. and Oct. Moni, I think they were stunting a little because she bought them early and has been holding them in their containers while waiting for the weather to cool. Also, you know how watering those tiny store containers leaches the nutrition right out of the soil. I believe that's why she's wanting to feed them. Dawn

Syble...I have to tell you that I think your DH would like CB for their meals. Their food is like 'Home Cooked' meals. Not at all like FF Chainstore..I like that they will add something new each time we go. We started going to them when we traveled South, and I really looked forward to them. That's why I bought some last year and added some this year. Even though they are a little different in pattern, they will still work together. All the pieces, including the cups, were $3.99 ea..Except for the plates and the S&Ps which were $5.99 ea...and the Egg Cups - $.99 ea.. I think your DGdtr would love them... jane

Actually, my wife is a bigger fan of watching football than me. We watch when the Packers are playing. The packers did not play in the super bowl this year, ergo, we made no effort to watch - did catch part of Bruce Springsteen's 1/2 time show. I understand that the Steelers made fantastic 100 yd run to their goal following an interception at the opponents goal line - what a save!
