DaisyLover... I tell you, if you can time it right and be standing next to me when i finally get tired of this, i probably will sell you the whole thing for what i paid! Two days of working the hot sun is taking it's toll, and my wife has said they just proclaimed a heat wave for the next 3 days... *Sigh* Just think... now the poor things are probably demolished and thrown away... I am guessing that the bunker and wooden greenouses are still for sale if anyone wanted to call them. I don't know if they disconnected the phones or not, but you could look on the net for Laflamme's Garden center in Chicopee, MA if you are really interested. There are still several people working there so i assume you could get in touch somehow. I really doubt the woodframe is worth salvaging. The covering on the bunker style was just poly film. I did notice that another greenhouse that was not part of the auction is the same construction. They must be happy with it. It's constructed of these steel griders, "U"-shaped channels and is a Hoop house shape maybe 25' wide? (I can take photo's net time o go out there today or tomorrow). It seems hard to fathom that they used it durring the winter, Considering snow loads. The girders are hulking things but it is the area between spans that i would have thought the poly would give way if we got one of those 20" of wet snow.... the sections between spans are like 12'w x ~6'?H. It might be a pain to transport since the girders are so long. I know the Horizontal supports are 12'. I am not sure how long the curved supports are when broken down. Didn't look that closely. I also got all the drip irrigation (don't know if it will be reuseable though) and the electrical that came with it, power boxes, switches, timers, lights etc. No, i din't buy a heating system, tho they were cheap enough. I forget the brand name but they were quality systems and a name i have seen before. Someone at the auction said they go for ~$1900.00 new. One guy bought 6 for $100.00. Some were fairly clean/newer while others were definately heavily used. I stupidly did not buy any fans. The four that were in my green house went for $100 for all four. I think i was in shock at that point. Hope you got rested up cause now you have to put it all back together. :) Oh my gosh! Rested up? This is almost 300' of greenhouse! Two days and i: - Removed the poly (4 of us worked on that) - Took down the irrigation tubes, rolled and secured them for storage. - Took down all the plant hangers and boxed them. - Took down the support pipe they used to hang the Irrigation pipe. - Took down and folded the center air baffle (just a poly tube with holes in it to move air through the GH) Here's what's left to do in 2 weeks... - uncouple the irrigation support tubes (Some are welded so i'll need to cut them into manageable sections) - Strip out the electrical wiring, then remove conduit, powerboxes, junction boxes, switches, lights (small) - Tear down the ends (wood 2x6) - remove the tables (roughly 12' x 6') ~36 of them - rent a jackhammer and get the table supports out of the ground (cemented in...) - Break down 65 frames (Trusses/joists or whatever they're called) - remove the base boards and sideboards - Dig up or pull out the foundation posts ( i have no clue how i will do that yet!) - Load this all up and transport home. - put it someplace *grin* - did i mention i have 12 days left? That was a lot of fun Bobby, thanks for finding it! Chocolate waffles with ice cream--yum! Alton was down on the square waffle irons, due to the heat distribution or something, but I like them for toasting. Yes, I know I can break up the other kind. I am very limited with my toaster. It is only big enough for toast made from a small piece of bread. Also the waffle irons I like, that seem to be the most heavy duty for the square waffles, are for the Belgian kind, which I think might not fit in my toaster. Here are the ones I'm thinking about getting: Cuisinart Belgian Waffle Iron Calaphon Belgian Waffle Maker Krups Waffle Chef Belgian Waffle Maker Cucina Pro 1452 Belgian 4 square waffle iron Those were the only ones I could find that seemed to have sufficient electric juice and heavy duty cast aluminum "irons" and also a non-stick finish that didn't wear off. Most of the cheap nonstick stuff I get wears off and I really don't like that, not to mention that the "non-stick" part pretty much becomes non existent at that point. I think they're all going to make too big of waffles though, but I can reheat them in the oven I guess. I'm not really ready to buy a new toaster, and I don't really have much room for one. I really love my retro one, but it is really not good for much else but toast. They do sell a non electric real iron one, but I dunno, sounds like a recipe for me to burn myself or melt something in the kitchen. Maybe someday when I get my dream woodburning stove and I can just shove it around any old where.

Thank you, Babka and sheilajoyce, for those explanations of sizing. I didn't know that was added to yarns. Since it looks like I won't be ironing this yarn, I was considering blocking the pieces (according to Anne's or Vickey's directions), but then I wondered what would happen after it was machine washed. Would I be wasting my time with the blocking . . . ? I will post pictures of my pieces later today along with the pattern's photo so you can see that the hexagonal shape of my work does not look quite like the photo.

I have an alternative that I haven't seen mentioned & that is a small travel iron. I use one next to my sewing machine & like it alot, especially for those seams that need pressing before the next seam is sewn. Also keep my regular one set up in the laundry room that I use probably most of the time - gives me exercise to walk to that room & a chance for a peck on the cheek of DH in the family room! I have the Clover mini, older version, & I too have a scar to prove how hot it gets! Wow! REALLY hot! I still keep it around for those times when dealing w/tiny pcs of applique (& I love the loose feather idea, thanks! Odessa) I gave up buying 'high-quality' irons - they wear out just as fast as the cheap ones. I figure if I can get a year out of a $15 WalMart special that's fine. I will be more selective next time tho, as my last one didn't have a sharp point, rather a kind of rounded one,which wasn't the greatest for corners. Lola-steam can be a quilters' friend or nightmare - it all depends on how you use it. Too much steam will stretch your fabric until it's bigger than you thought possible (make a 9" square a 10' square!) But steam also can save the day - esp if you need a little stretch to make things fit. (But that never happens to most of us...right?!) I love reading what y'all are using. It's amazing we can go in so many different directions & arrive at the same place! Keep those ideas coming!:) ~Cindy
