5 months before you can eat your fresh veggies??!!!?? It will be 5 months before I can PLANT mine. After a freak rain yesterday and temperatures in the high 30's we only have 2 feet of snow on the ground...except where it is drifted. Today I slogged through some thigh deep stuff to get to my sage in the hopes there was enough for my turkey stuffing under the snow. The rabbits left me quite a bit but I still need to use some of the little I have dried. Ah well. sigh....Mama had to be a Yankee. But once the kids get through college, hubby and I are heading south! We are both sincerely sick of 6 month winters! Kay.

Well Ta Daaaaaaaaaa!!! Last Snowflake wins by a landslide. I figured it would since it just has to be my most favorite in the garden. Thanks for your votes, this was fun. Last Snowflake has to be my favorite Stamile daylily so far. I love all the early blooming daylilies and the eyed ones, but somehow this one just tugs at my heartstrings. If you don't have it, get it, it will not let you down. Ann had to get it last year after I raved about it, but I don't think hers has bloomed yet. Mary, I just cannot give Fringy away, it was too expensive, I know you were joking. I do have very many seed pods from Fringy, I put its pollen on anything fancy. Ann and I are working on a trade this fall, she is sending me a Talledaga fan for a Fringy fan. Dot

Can we also maybe put up a hybridizer who frequents our forum, like Don Rawson? He has more than Rhino Hide to his credit. I'll let someone else do it, since I'm in the throes of remodel final preparation, as well as learning how to bake bread. Yep, that has been on my New Year Resolutions list for the last 30 years, and finally I'm gonna do it. Starting off with sourdough starter, the starter is from a New England 1750s origin.....can you imagine someone keeping that particular line of starter alive all that time? Honestly, the history you can learn from the most unexpected places. Same goes for hosta, of course. I also plan to look into Johnny's Seed Catalog and check any hosta holdings there, just for the heck of it.....I mean, have you seen how FAT that catalog is?

My youngest niece's wedding was a riot. The groom does not dance, so he decided there would be no dancing at the wedding. They did have a three piece jazz group. Of course everyone thought you were supposed to dance so watching people try to gyrate to the jazz was hysterical. They both love fly-fishing and had a fishing theme -- ahem. The wedding cake had a fish on top that looked like it was dead -- seriously, a dead trout lying on top of the cake. There was a groom's cake and I never did decide what that shape was. The centerpieces were bowls of goldfish. Cute -- but what do you do with 100 goldfish after the wedding? In the end, a good time was had by all but there was a lot of eye-rolling and tongue biting. Yes -- kudos for you for pulling this one off. It will make a good family story for years. I wish the couple much happiness and a home of their own!
