Love those wax wings! so oriental looking. I've only seen waxwings around here about 2 times, they come and go quickly. Looks cold up there!!

Well to update I just removed the dead spots by picking it away gently. Some of it is filling in and some of it seems to be struggling. I bought some seed that I'm going to plant to try to fill it in which should work fine. Overall my first experience is get the dead stuff picked away and try to take care of it the best you can.

Kalymnos, there between 4 to 6 seasons old depending on which one. Thanks for compliment i have seen others tree's on forum here that look great as well. Daniel, i never worried about garage temps so much until i bought the darn thermometer this year and started looking at it! Course this year is one of the colder and snowier years as well, i dont think they have gone thru this type of cold before though, they say now as it keeps changiong tongiht will get in the outlying area's (me) possibly as cold as 21 below so the garage temps might dip from the current 9 above zero. There to scattered in garage for any light bulbs though and a heater for me is not an option i think though maybe a little tip dieback if anything at all hopefully i shall see in future the tip colors if they turn dark almost black. Very nice plants Jacklord! I am always very jealous to see the prices of tropicals in nursuries down south since they are often half the price (sometimes even less than that) than the prices they go for at nursuries here. There are a few nursuries here that have good prices on the tropical "annuals" (I wish they were not sold just as annuals!) but its hard to find good prices on the hardy subtropicals! Thanks Ben! Glad that you like the butia! I really like the variegated Alphinas, I see them all the time in Florida and in California and they are really beautiful plants. I wish I can find the variegated ones here, but Im happy that I at least found the green variety since those aren't usually found here either! The Monstera vine is going to be a potted plant for me. I wish it could grow outdoors, but its way too tropical (Tree Philodendrons might make it with protection though, I always wanted to try them in the ground, but they do well in pots so I guess its easy enough to bring them in). Monsteras are one of my favorite plants also and mine is just starting to get those nice spilt leaves so Im hoping that it will have lots of adult leaves by the end of summer! Your lucky to be able to grow philodendrons in your area, they are a great family of plants! I fogot the name of the tulips I bought, but I think they are early or mid spring bloomers. I used to not really be crazy about spring blooming plants but like you said, it takes such a long time for the tropical plants to start looking nice so the spring bulbs at least give me something to look forward to (and I dont have to give them any care which is another big plus!). Kristi, I just found this Hot Lips on EBay and to me, it looks exactly like your picture above. What do you think? Is this mislabeled or could yours be Hot Lips?? Love those pics Konrad. I'm with Joe, the stop sign made me laugh.

The bird pics are great.

Do you have a telephoto lens to get those bird pics? I don't have much luck with just my camera getting the birds. I'm probably not patient enough.

You got some really great story pics there, Konrad...Here in NE Ohio...We've only had a couple inches total this year...I love it being a little milder, but is kind of weird not having as much snow...It is pretty nippy now and for rest of winter(?)...

Waxwings are such pretty birds. I have seen real ones only one time in North Carolina. All the pictures are great.

We have waxwings down here, but they must be a different variety. We also have bohemians, ...just no bohemian waxwings.:)

They say, a birding lens should be at least 500 mm,...would be nice! The one used here, [from dear Santa] canon 70 - 200 mm F2.8 IS and 2X Extender, [not the first pic] going to my Rebel XT.
Not cheap, but you get what you pay for......clarity.

Really fantastic pic's . I never heard of a waxwing before. They sure are pretty and something I would like to see in my yard now and than.

What kind of lens did you have to use on these if it is not trouble for you to do so.
