Cats love the Christmas tree water!

I let the outdoor cats in (one or two at a time) every few days because I like their company. It amazes me that all immediately go to the Christmas tree to drink that water. It has nothing in it except a tree and water. Must like tree-flavored water. They know where the dog water is but are now preferring the tree water.

The sap must have some benefit.

I’d it’s a real tree sitting in the water, it might actually be toxic to cats. I remember reading something about if you have a real Christmas tree to not let your kitty drink the water….

i don't have cats but did google this out of curiosity and indeed, it can be very dangerous due to several factors...

Toxic tree water

Beyond added chemicals, it turns out all Christmas tree water is dangerous. Jordan explains that the water from Christmas trees is toxic to cats because of fire retardants that are sprayed onto most Christmas trees before they are sold, plus pine sap is toxic to kitties.

In mine country, the christmas tree don't have water, but anyways, my cat love christmas tree, climb it, remove the decorations
