Do animals have a sense of humor?

| Last night while getting ready for a shower, I could hear Archie on the other side of the door. He was taking it and rubbing his beak back and forth across the bottom of the door. I knew what he wanted but I ignored him away.
Then I heard him walking backwards dragging his beak on the floor. He stopped, began to walk forwards pushing his beak on the floor and bumped into the door. Once again, backwards and forwards bumping into the door.
When I open the door to see what he wanted, he looked up at me and said, "What?"
At times like this, you’d swear he had a sense of humor. |

| Yes i think they do. My DD has a 7lb cat and a 60lb dog and a doggie door. The dog Lucky knows he can't hurt the cat Flash. The cat will lay on the inside of the doggie door and the dog will not come in untill he gets frustraited than he will bark. DD Will have to make the cat move. He'll swagger into the living room with a self satisfied look on his face. The dog will slink in. Flash does have a sneaky sense of humor. |

| my wife say my basset hound, Napoleon, has a sense of humor to put up with an ol' cuss like me. Course I have to put up with an ol' cuss like him too. He's 15, and ornary. He burps, slurps, and farts. DW says it's me, but what does that woman know? |

| having a sense of humor means one can experience humor. Being humor is learned and there are different kinds of humor I believe animals do learn humor. I think my dog understands fully well when I am being silly and sometimes it makes him silly too. I know he loves to perform certain goofyness as he likes the reaction we all have when he does. So yes, I "think" animals can have a sense of humor. In fact more so than some peope I know! LOL |

Yes! Four years ago, we adopted a "dumpee" kitten, Riley. He has absolutely no sense of humor, has a strong Napolean complex. Then two years ago, along comes another one: Allie, a female. To look at her, you'd think she was dumber than a bag of hammers. Initially, Riley got all snotty and puffed up at her. She did nothing. But as time went on, we realized she loves to "bait" him. One day, he was snoozing on a hassock. She quietly crept up, sat next to him and stared at him. He woke up and darned near flew out of his skin to see her hanging over him. He'll walk by and she'll snake out a paw and grab a hind leg. When he turns on her to attack, she gets him in a head lock and proceeds to "wash" his head, while he struggles and fumes. Allie never loses her temper, but boy, does she know how to hit Riley's hot buttons!!! - Ellen |

| I think so. I'm sure they have reasoning skills. The other day Bo was being sneaky and cracked me up. I knew he had eaten all of his food. He went to Roxy's bowl, got a mouthful, walked across the room to his bowl to chew. One time Murphy wanted Bud off the bed. She ran down the hall and of course Bud ran to see what was up. Murphy runs back and gets on the bed. Mission accomplished. |

| My pug absolutely has a sense of humor. Just one example: My ex and I were watching a horror movie with Lemon in between us. At one point, we both screamed. And then Lemon screamed! She looked back and forth at us, smiling, so pleased with herself. We were cracking up, and I swear, she was joining in. Later, the music got dramatic and scary, and she screamed yet again. We lost it. And definitely, whenever I get goofy with her, her eyes light up, and she acts like a fool, peering around corners, darting at me, hiding under blankets, smiling the whole way. |

| A dog that screams during a scary movie. One that sneaks food from another. A cat that uses wrestling moves and the list goes on. Yes, pets can are funny in their way. I'm just glad to have them in my life. |

| What great stories on this thread! I've debated with "myself" whether or not to tell one of mine. Then... what the hec.. you guys don't know me.. so here goes. For those of you who have ever owned parrots, you will really understand. Many can learn or simply do naturally a great "wolf whistle" I always loved that when I had birds. They made me feel special and pretty throughout the day. They also can laugh hysterically, which my cockatoo was great at. One day, after a shower, I opened the door into the living room (naked) My Grey stopped half way in the middle of his wolf whistle and the cockatoo started laughing so hard I was afraid he'd hurt himself. I quickly got dressed. |

| *LOL @ beeane* I think its very funny to watch 6lb cats lord it over an 80lb golden. We can spend hours around my house watching them. One of our younger cats got a pawfull of GR tail and was dragged all over the livingroom while the dog was pitifully begging with his eyes for us to make the cat let go. The dog soon realized it would get us to laughing if he dragged the cat around and soon he was smiling.. yes, smiling.. and dragging the cat. The cat was having fun, too! Oakleif's tale could be mine many times over. I think cats believe they are superior to dogs... and well, to people as well! :) |

| Absolutely they can! My cat Frank like to hide behind things and jump out sideways at me. He knows I love this and think he is hysterical. |
