I had the same issue with a young female....one of my best cats ever, and also a rescue. Since I had no other cats at the time, I went ahead and kept her even with the positive feleuk results. She reverted to normal and lived sixteen years and died of kidney failure and never was sick in that fifteen years, other than a urinary infection toward the end because of her kidney issues and even that cleared up. Had another kitten who tested positive from a feral rescue, even though the mother tested negative. She never reverted, but neither did she infect any of my other cats, and by then I had five. She did die younger, at age nine from Feline infectious peritonitis and again none of the other cats were affected. I guess I'm saying that I understand your reluctance to bring a cat who tests positive into your home with other cats, but it's not always the death sentance some people think it is in a well cared for cat. My sister had a beautiful orange cat from a feral colony that also tested positive, but being her only cat she kept him. He lived 10 years in good health before meeting with a tragic accident. Otherwise he probably would have lived into old age. Being a leukemia carrier need not be a death sentence for an only cat.

Are you asking if feline leukemic cats can catch something from dogs, or if dogs could catch feline leukemia from cats. It's species specific, so dogs won't catch it, Cats with feleuk are immune deficient, so the bigger issue is can a cat catch something from a dog.
