Houdini Cat needs a collar

Any suggestions for a cat that removes every collar and harness I've put on him? My understanding is its supposed to be put on loosely so they can wiggle free if collar is caught, and not strangle. But if it's that loose then Orange can remove it within minutes. He is micro chipped but needs a collar because he's also a master escape artist.

Have you tried a dog step-in harness? I found a Cesar Milan dog harness at Petco that works great on my cat. The step-in fits differently - so it is more around their legs and shoulders and less around their chest. She is small - about 7 pounds - and very slippery. Seems pretty secure but I guess Houdini could get out of it. I don't know if Petco still has them but similar harnesses are available other places.

Personally, I would worry about a harness on any cat that may end up outdoors since a harness is more likely to get caught on branches, etc.
I think the safest thing is a break-away collar that fits a little tighter.
