My father had a hound that must've had a glandular disorder...was the stinkiest dog I've ever seen! I think it sometimes just happens...I don't have a solution.

If your dog stinks, her diet is not optimal. Science DIet is not great. Better would be a high quality, grain free kibble with limited ingredients. WIth a small dog like that, buy the best food you can afford. You should be able to tell the difference in her fur in about 3 weeks. Best would be a raw diet--my dog is on a raw diet and he smells fantastic! (believe me, he was not always that way!). A raw diet will not only help with the smell, but any skin conditions and anal impactions also. Anal glands should not need expressing.

I don't normally weigh in here but thought I would for this. Some dogs that are extra smelly, especially if their coat also becomes greasy between bathes may suffer from hypothyroidism. Talk to your vet about a thyroid panel, not just a T4 test.

Sometimes hypothyroid dogs are sluggish and gain weight but not always. Hypothyroidism can have some very surprising symptoms that you may not associate with the disease. The only way to know is to test for it, and the full panel will give you the best picture of the problem. The fix for it is a simple pill that isn't terribly expensive. I have run into this with some of my foster dogs.
