Does anyone know if Burmese cats hair gets shorter as they get older? I saw a reference online at a breeders site about this - kittens have longer hair and it gets shorter, almost velvety, as they get older. I emailed them and asked about it but they never responded. I am curious because when I adopted my cat the shelter thought she was about 4 years old, but they were guessing. I have had her two years and each time she sheds her coat gets thicker, shorter, softer and more like velvet. Some of this can be caused by the good canned food she eats, but I am not sure about her hair getting shorter.

I asked her how old she is and she wouldn't say. A lady never tells her age and I think she likes being a bit mysterious.
