I would NOT allow the kitten to eat ANY of the K/D. If anything, the kitten's body requires MORE protein to support proper growth and development. Any K/D that the kitten eats reduces the amount of protein in her overall diet, and that can not be good for her.

Instead of keeping the K/D down for all-day grazing by your CRF cat, put the older cat in a separate, closed room with the K/D several times a day, if you're home to do it. If you're not available to do this, then either keep the older cat or the kitten in a separate room with the appropriate food while you're out of the house. This is the only way to prevent the kitten from degrading her required diet with K/D.

Thanks for the confirmation. I think we will give the older cat his dry food only when we are at home.
