What does slow respiration indicate?

As some of you know, my dog Angel is 16 years old. Twice today her breathing became very slow while she was sleeping. I timed it at 7 to 8 breaths per minute. That seems awfully slow to me. During another nap she breathed normally. I didn't count those breaths, but there were a lot more of them.

Does respiration this slow mean anything in particular?

Just a deep sleep, as long as no drugs are on board. Mine breathe really slow when they are very deep too.

Oh, good. I'm glad to know that. Thanks, Meghane!
