swee' pea's final check up today!

when dr. o'brien saw her walking across the waiting room to the exam room, he was amazed at the fact that she has virtually no limp. he attributes much of her healing to the fact that she wore a cast for 5 weeks.

the pressure sores are healing nicely and we are leaving them uncovered now so they can get fresh air. i'll still put a tube sock on her when she goes outside so the sand won't get in there and irritate them.

dr. o'brien said to give it 2 more weeks and she can resume normal activity. i asked if, after 2 more weeks, it was ok for her to run up and down the fence and play with the pigs because it's been killing her not to be able to do that and he said yup, she can play with the pigs and she can even zoomie as much as she wants.

i'm gonna miss seeing this vet, he's just awesome! he told me today that pea is one of the best patients he has ever had.

I love it, I love it, I love it!!!

Your pups are so lucky to have such a good momma!!! I'm so happy that Pea is doing so well and that she is coming down the home stretch!!

And, of course, it helps to have a really good vet!!!

Well it sounds like your homemade towel e-collar, and your great vet, did the job! I'm glad she has healed so well!

thanks, guys! considering how she looked the day after surgery (SO pitiful!!!) and after the first couple of days at home being pretty brutal for both of us, her recovery has been miraculous.

i hope i never have to go through this again but if i ever do, i'll be back on dr. o'brien's doorstep. he is one awesome vet!!!

Yeah! Glad to hear Sweet Pea will be back to running the pigs again soon! LOL!
