Did anyone else see his special last week. Well it got me thinking ...is there a way to outlaw puppymills while still allowing legitimate breeders to continue. One woman on the show said that only pets should be bred. But I don't think I agree with that. Most people love their pets and think they are the greatest...but does it help the breed when people breed their inferior pets to other inferior pets? I'm not talking about looks here...at least not only, but for medical reasons. Last time I went to the dog park there was a woman there with a male bulldog...the dog was young but already had major eye, hips and shoulder problems...the poor thing was very much out of proportion....he was cute....but will be nightmare in vet bills in the not so distant future....she was looking to mate him. So is there a happy medium between puppy mills and legitimate breeders? How can we outlaw one without harming the other? I would hate to rely on backyard breeders in the future...then you never know what you'll get.

Gun owners are up in arms about curtailing their freedoms---freedoms guaranteed by law. I agree animals should not be bred indiscriminately, but stopping such actions would be curtailing the rights of people. I think there are enough current laws---instead of making more, folks should be lobbgying for better and more complete enforcement of existing laws.

It seems like they should be regulated according to the public interest, much as restaurants & food processing plants are. However, cities, counties, or states would have to enact regulations. We have no public servants & no statesmen any more, just politicians, & it's too easy for public opinion & public emotions to be manipulated by "$pecial interests". Thank goodness the health inspectors for food manufacturers were brought under guidelines generations ago; if it were up to today's lawmakers, we'd risk salmonella every time we took a bite of food.

There is no easy answer to any of these issues. I did not see the episode, and would like to know about what Ceasars ideas were.

Unfortunately the only thing ceasar had to say about puppy mills is don't buy from pet stores. The show was really dedicated to rehabilitating some dogs that were rescued from puppymills. He did not have any ideas how to stop them though.

I didn't see the show either, I would have been very interested in possible solutions. The only thing I have heard is what has already been said... don't buy anything from pet stores that sell animals. Alexa

I saw the show, and I was expecting "more" I guess. They made a big buildup like this was some sort of underground sting operation, but they had permission to enter and these were kennels that had passed the local inspections. They were bad enough, but they didn't expose a truly awful mill, like one of the Amish places.

I agree ... I too was a bit disappointed...I think Victoria would do a better job....she would go in their with her attitude and hopefully give those guys something to think about or at least make them look like the monsters they are. I just remember her face when that woman was spraying her poor bulldog with citronella in the face, before the dog did anything wrong you could tell victoria was a disgusted as I was. Ceasar also mentioned not to buy dogs online...not just pet stores. And the mills he went into were not as bad as some I've seen.
