A lot of people in our area have had luck with this sort of thing by posting ads on craigslist.org. I hope Willie turns up soon! Best of luck.

Did you check out nearby shelters? I ask this because it is possible Willie was stolen with the idea of selling him, and then the abductors realized he was too old (partially deaf and with teeth missing) and dumped him. If they had taken off his collar, as well they might--if planning to keep him or sell him--he would then be just another stray and could end up at a shelter.

A family a few doors down the street from us in a quiet residential neighborhood had their dog--a young pug--stolen last year. They had left the dog in their walled and gated yard while they were out. Another neighbor saw someone get out of a van, lean over the gate, scoop the dog up, and drive away. Unfortunately, he could not get the license plate number of the van. People say that--as we are only about 8 miles from the Mexican border--some purebred dogs are stolen and taken to Mexico to be sold. Up in Pasadena, that is probably less likely to happen, and the woman may just have wanted a Yorkie for herself. She would most likely treat him well, but that is little consolation to you.

In any case, it is unbelievably cruel and selfish to take anyone's pet. I sure hope you get Willie back.
