I have an old Alaskan Malamute that was given to me by my vet because she was dropped off and nobody came back for her. She was obviously neglected. Her tail is broken, she has huge callouses on her elbows and she severe arthritis in her hind legs. We give her Tramadol for pain. Her appetite is good and her personality has improved over the past year after being pampered. We looked at her hind paw pads and they look like burrs, just like burrs you see on bushes. We have been putting Bag Balm on them for three days now. She is huge and is very difficult to get her in and out of the car to take her to the vet. We will if it doesn't improve but I am wondering what it is. Does it sound like an overgrowth of keratin?
