? about cat taking Metoclopramide

My 14-year-old cat was prescribed Metoclopramide last week for vomiting. I gave her a few doses the day and night after I took her to the vet, then stopped because she seemed fine. At about 4:30 this morning she vomited one time, so I gave her a dose and she was fine after that. Except that she paced around in cirles on top of the bed for a looong time, stopping at our heads on each pass to meow. She was purring too. Would that medication make her restless or unable to sleep? Normally she sleeps on the bed all night. Nobody got any sleep this morning. She seems to feel fine now. I wondered if that was a side effect of the medicine, so I can time the dose differently if I give her any more of it.

Quote: Metoclopramide: Metoclopramide (Reglan) is used in dogs and cats for vomiting. It acts on the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CRTZ) in the brain to decrease the urge to vomit. It also has peripheral activity to increase gastric motility. Metoclopramide is a safe medication but hyperactivity, depression or even seizures could occur. It should not be used in patients with seizures or with intestinal obstructions. It is considered to have superior antiemetic effects over antihistamines. You may want to tell your vet her reaction to it. Since she is a senior she may be more sensitive and needs the dosage adjusted. Your vet may also want to try another drug that won't have possible side effects.

Thanks. I just gave her a dose before reading this. I'll watch her closely tonight and call the emergency vet if she seems worse than just "hyperactive", and call the regular vet tomorrow.
