How many bull frogs are too many???
Comments (23)By its own admission it appears that 'dirtslinger' has done exactly what it accused me of doing,__ introducing non native species. (http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/ponds/msg0322262730946.html) posted March 30, 2009 In reply of Mar 31, 09 at 11:03 it states: "These are not turtles found in this area- I really doubt in the wild they hibernate for 6+ months." Then take a look at thisabout the 'Red-eared slider' from Wikipedia: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red-eared_slider) "It is a native of the southern United States, but has become common in various areas of the world due to the pet trade." And in the paragraph 'U.S. State Law': "Some states have other laws and regulations regarding possession of red-eared slider because they can be an invasive species_______". And as far as "Please stop spreading bullfrogs around!" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullfrog "The American Bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana), often simply known as the Bullfrog in the United States, is an aquatic frog, a member of the family Ranidae, or "true frogs", native to much of North America."...See MoreToo many cats on Spicebush?
Comments (3)They'll both be defoliated, and the caterpillars still won't get enough to eat, even if the leaves are big, like they might be in the shade. Do you know where some sassafras grows in your area? They use sassafras here, spicebush isn't native (well, except a rare type that grows in a few bogs) and when I feed sassafras to the caterpillars that I've found on my one little spicebush, they don't seem to know the difference. The two plants are closely related, and the chemical makeup of the leaves must be identical or nearly so. If you want to raise your caterpillars yourself, you could just feed them (washed) sassafras leaves from wild trees. Or, you could cut off the leaf the cats are on and attach it with a clothes pin to a sassafras tree. You could leave one caterpillar on one of the spicebushes. One caterpillar probably won't damage the bushes too much. Of course, if you leave any of them to raise itself, there's a strong possibility they'll be eaten by predators or used by a parasitic wasp. That's why I raise caterpillars myself. Good luck! Sherry...See MoreHow many (decorative) light fixtures is too many?
Comments (15)Chispa and 3onthetree, I think you were closest to understanding what I was trying to ask. :) The spacing by the hood is 12" at the narrowest point so there is room for sconces there. Is it too much to have both those and pendants over the island? Or which would you choose? I am undecided on lighting inside the glass cabinets because they are more for useful dishes rather than display. (The rendering is for layout only and does not show any tile, trim, or countertop choices.)...See MoreHow many colors are too many for the exterior?
Comments (27)I like the dark idea. Iron Ore is nice. BM Wrought Iron, SW Urbane Bronze, or here's one w/SW Peppercorn (ignore those shutters) I lik how they did the black trim work around the white windows. Landscaping will really add a lot. try to bring in some low ground plants w/a bit of color Here's a rear shot w/dark siding and no black trim around the windows Here's the dark trim on the fascia. this home had dark windows so it looks nice w/the dark trim. Here are your door in black. your pic is crooked and it's marked up already, so this is the best I could do If you could do something to the garage doors, it would look better. carriage hardware maybe? I don't think using this color will be anything to write home about. Other similar homes w/diff design ideas, just in case you're wondering...See Morespiritual_gardner
