Can you compost items with glue on them?
Comments (4)Depends - A lot of cardboard (including corrugated) is held together with starch glue (cornstarch, etc). A lot of furniture and woodworking glues are made from animal proteins (e.g. hide glue). Shouldn't be any problem with these adhesives in the compost. I doubt the common thermoplastic glues (think hot-glue guns) or white PVA glues (Elmer's) decompose easily, but they are generally non-toxic, and some are water-soluble. Lots of other adhesives out there too... In short, I don't know and probably should have kept my mouth shut. Regards, Patrick Ferrell Allen, Texas...See MoreThoughts on planting a slug trap crop?
Comments (2)While keeping the planting beds well mulched creates conditions that slugs find very nice to live in I find little damage to plants unless the level of the mulch falls below an inch of two. Apparently I also have created conditions that toads, garter snakes, and lots of birds find very liveable and they are quite prolific in my garden and help control the slugs for me. If I do have a problem simply spraying the affected plants with cold, caffienated coffee repels the slugs....See Moregot a CRAZY idea!! whats your thoughts???
Comments (31)i've seen dokken and aerosmith. poison and dokken, and it seems like they were with someone else. LOL starship and someone else. i think that's it. i like everything BUT rap and that line of music(well there is a VERY few select i like on that kind but i don't like the foul mouth stuff). hubs lets me know i'm VERY strange!! LOL now i have never heard any of the ones your daughter likes!!but we will look them up on youtube this week!! LOL WOW 21!~~ geeze!! LOL now if i'd had it my way my tabor would be 18, but GOD had other plans so he's 12. LOL ohhh ya!! have to make my own bread, and we had been using this other bread maker which i "thought" was the BOMB!!! then i decided, its not. NOPE!!! i like the one i got at a yard sale for -get this $5. LOL man, i way used that the up the very first day i got it!!! LOL my mom was totally tripping!! LOL so now i'm back to using that one, cuz i like it much better. it lets the yeast down when the flour and such is heated properly, so its perfect bread everytime. so if ya get a bread maker, make sure it has a yeast dispencer!! that's key!!! LOL BLTC's are the best!! LOL i don't think i've tried that kinda bread. but i think i will!! just to see if i can make it too!! LOL we found a bat in our clothes outside on the line. WOW that was exciting, tabor was like MOM take it in, i'm like NOOOOOO so we built a bat house. can you say bat poo?? LOL that was my thought for it!! LOL (secretly) hubs and my birthday both is in feb. on the 13th. LOL yep Both aquarians. makes for some real fun sometimes!! LOL did i tell ya about the wasp and such trap i read about? i guess you take the soda bottle and cut the lid open and they said use some string to shut it and i thing punch holes in ti. put the sugary water in there and the wasps can get in but not out. what we did was drill holes in the pop bottles and NOT cut them. put the sugary water in and they can get in and not out. we used a 3/8"bit on it. just to make sure they could get in. :') now we wait and see. i hope i got the sugar water sugary enough!! ohhh and put them by the hummingbird feeder if you have a problem with them getting to your feeders. LOL man, i do!! they drank all of my hummingbird juice last time, even though it was gross!! i knew the hb werent around cuz of them so i thought, well if i let it get gross, maybe they wont be there anymore, nope the dang things STILL drank it. UGHHHH so then i read up on it in the hummingbird forum. LOL ~Medo ~Medo...See MoreUse of white glue in the pruning cuts of rose bushes. I ask for your o
Comments (24)I must have some really weird borers because I have used exterior wood glue with limited success. What I saw happening was on some of the treated canes the borers would bore into the side of the cane below where the glue was. I may have to use the black sealant instead, if that will help. I have found ant colonies inside the borer holes. What I do as an alternative is to leave some dead wood on the cane after pruning if I can. That dead wood is harder for the borers to get into. It works at least a bit better than just wood glue. I also have seen borer damage on tree and intersectional peonies as well. So, if you have any tree or intersectional peonies, please keep an eye on them....See Morepetra_gw
