Can you compost items with glue on them?
Comments (4)Depends - A lot of cardboard (including corrugated) is held together with starch glue (cornstarch, etc). A lot of furniture and woodworking glues are made from animal proteins (e.g. hide glue). Shouldn't be any problem with these adhesives in the compost. I doubt the common thermoplastic glues (think hot-glue guns) or white PVA glues (Elmer's) decompose easily, but they are generally non-toxic, and some are water-soluble. Lots of other adhesives out there too... In short, I don't know and probably should have kept my mouth shut. Comments (13)Certainly never hurts to ask questions. I do it all the time and have learned tons off this list by doing so. The questions as you state don't have to be 911 type questions, but also simply questions born out of curiosity. In defense to the book reference, there are many times when people posting questions are certainly in the 911 mode and we some times try to calm them down and keep them from doing something too drastic. Maybe a book on Pepper Growing would be a good middle ground? :) Bruce...See Morekeep them in your thoughts and prayers
Comments (9)I sure want to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Where I live no one here knows these people and it is very hard to relate to some of the people in my community. People that I deal with every day are busy and just don't seem to care because it does not pertain to them. I am very touched that you all have taken a minute out of your time to do this and then come on here and post. I don't know any of you, but I already feel like I would like more people in my life just like all of you. I can not imagine what these two are going to have to endure in the months and years ahead. Sure will put their faith to the test. Will keep you posted as I learn more....See MoreUse of white glue in the pruning cuts of rose bushes. I ask for your o
Comments (24)I must have some really weird borers because I have used exterior wood glue with limited success. What I saw happening was on some of the treated canes the borers would bore into the side of the cane below where the glue was. I may have to use the black sealant instead, if that will help. I have found ant colonies inside the borer holes. What I do as an alternative is to leave some dead wood on the cane after pruning if I can. That dead wood is harder for the borers to get into. It works at least a bit better than just wood glue. I also have seen borer damage on tree and intersectional peonies as well. So, if you have any tree or intersectional peonies, please keep an eye on them....See Morepetra_gw
