Comments (44)Sorry Acadiafun I misunderstood - I entirely missed your other post stating you were referring to your own yard specifically. I should make clear that I am speaking specifically of an urban environment with many dogs per day travelling by and deposits left on other people's property for them to clean up and/or in common areas like parks and terraces meant for everyone to use. Houses/yards very close together - literally only 8-10 ft alley- which means if someone has a noticeable bad odor emanating from their yard it really is more of a nuisance than if the houses were spread out. Certainly I know many fine dogs/owners who are conciencious, But of those who aren't - my neighbors small pine trees near the sidewalk 2 or 3 feet into her yard were killed by several years of dog pee - got progressively browner on the dog pee side until finally they removed. My raised bed in front last summer wasnt doing too well and I wasnt sure why until I saw what was going on (and got yelled at by someone for daring to ask that she move her dog). Im not sure WHAT I will do with that bed - once one starts they all do. At least 5 times a year if not more I have to spend considerable effort removing the stink from my shoes - and last summer tossed a pair of fav flip flops away because I just could not get the stench out. That is MY frame of reference. Cities/urban environments are all about users making compromises - one persons rights end where anothers begin. BTW If I need a life so do some others here who have posted myriad times on this same topic!...See MoreFrustrated with the neighbors dog...well the owners
Comments (63)Iris, Unless or until the situation is resolved, I think posting here every one of Daisy’s “visits” is as good a way as any to document the situation. You could take a photo of her holding a copy of that day’s newspaper to prove the date — you know, like a kidnapper! In all seriousness, though, you gotta do something — and quickly. In fact, I think a call to the local police or sheriff would be my next move. As for the comments by some that Daisy must be roaming out of a need for attention, I (quite respectfully, of course) disagree. While that very well may be the case with other pets who continually show up at a neighbor’s door, Beagles are scent hounds and will follow their noses despite any obstacle (much like their cousin the foxhound does when tracking a fox during a hunt) — and often times with devastating consequences as mentioned previously. Of course it’s possible/probable that she’s starved for affection/attention, too, given the frequency with which she’s been found wandering. In any event, I hope for the best possible outcome for her. :)...See MoreOT: WHY do these idiots behind me have to shoot off fireworks so late?
Comments (12)I don't even use the sparklers unless it is on a birthday cake.... my father was against fireworks except if it was done by professionals. He and my mother shot off a couple of firecrackers when their first 4th of July after being married. The firecracker took off and ended up in the barn full of hay. They had to run into the barn and start pulling bales out to make sure that the barn did NOT catch of fire.... so when my brother and I came along he was ALREADY against having them.... plus when growing up we had lots of droughts and the pastures were EXTREMELY brown. We had several grass fires from people driving by and dropping cigarettes.... so anything that could cause a fire he was against.... Can't say that I blame him, and it made be think about what I might do .... would it .... could it cause problems for others....See Morecindy_lou_who
