My two sons, both in their 40's now, absolutely loved their Legos from a fairly early age. I used to try to keep them all in big box but when they played, they would complain that "the best pieces always are on the bottom", so I kept them in the bottom drawer of a chest of drawers in their room. I will say that Legos were the most wonderful toy around then, and maybe now, too. My kids made wonderful 'objects' and would run to me and try to explain to me what they were. Some of the Lego sets eventually came out with 'people' or small sets that would include special pieces whose use was recognizable, but I much preferred the simple sets of nothing but blocks as then the child had to use their imagination to make things. There aren't too many toys these days like that.

You could give everyone a picture and see if they can "copy" it with Legos, either 3d or as a mosaic. Or give them 15 seconds to build a boat. Then 3 minutes. More elaborate or bigger. Build a bridge that can hold, say, a cup of popcorn. Or build their house, or the church. Make their name. Or who can build the tallest tower...that stays standing for 10 seconds! Have riddles, and they build the answer. If you go fast, that one could get silly. This website had some cute decor ideas...I especially like the yellow Solo cups that look like mini figure heads! Lego decor and minifig cup heads!

I do not like mismatched sofas they always remind of I went to the 2nd hand store and got furniture. No to faux leather always . I don’t see that anyone faces the TV in that layout . Do you need that much seating? I think a floor plan drawn to scale, I use graph paper , make sure you mark all the windows and doorways with measurements of those and the walls . I see kids stuff everywhere so maybe some good storgae for that would be nice . Your TV is too high and the wall that the brown sofa is on would be the perfect spot for the TV with some storage, TV and display space . Ikea has a system called Besta it is so much fun to work with because you can totally design it to fit your needs and space.These are just ideas I would do 2 matching chairs
