That is great Teresa! If you're choosy you can really get some bargin's at thrift stores! I just went to ours looking for some type of foam for a pad for the dog kennel.I want it to be washable and will make a cover for it. I looked for an old egg crate type pillow or mattress, none. I then looked for crib bumper pads, thinking I could reuse them, none. So then I looked at couch pillows, too small. I saw some old bed pillows, but too large. I even saw an old couch or chair bottom cushion, but no zipper and who knows what it would be like if I opened it up, besides that it was about 4 or 5 inches wide. Too fat for this little kennel. **sigh** I wish I'd hit the jackpot. Oh well, sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. I'm on my way out to the one store we have in town to see if they have any foam that will work, all is not lost yet. But I don't hold much hope for them to have any! LOL

Fauxchick if you put glue on those fabulous drapes I'll fly down and shoot you myself LOL Having them adjusted profesionally will be quite inexpensive...you're taking the right route there :) Or you could mail them to me and I'll do them...mind you, I may have to hang them for a few years to get the wrinkles out...but when I'm done with them, you can have them right back :oP heh heh I too love this thread...I don't get to play with silk as much as I used to (I used to make quilts that were donated to charities asking my employer for money...in a busy bank, with lenders all around me, you'd see my corner office...Fancy desk, lots of file cabinets, very banker like...but wth? There's a babylock on the table in the corner and several piles of silk on the desk :) I loved being able to sew at work LOL I just pulled baby out of the closet and she's looking at me with great longing...maybe I'll make a drape today...she needs me :) (Unfortunately so does my 3 year old and he's not much help with the fabic!!!)

Soft-close for doors is easy and relatively inexpensive. However, soft-close for drawers is much more work and more expensive...you have to replace the drawer glides. There is an alternative you could try, but others here have had mixed results...get those "hip" pushers to install on the back of the cabinet where the drawer box is.

Well I'll post pics if I ever get around to trying my hand at reupholstering that chair. I went to the 7th Ave Fashion district in NYC this weekend. I really went to NYC to babysit my grandkitty, but while there I had to go to 7th Ave & 38-40th St. All fabrics, laces, buttons, trim stores. You name it, they have it, especially if you are looking to make fancy evening oir bridal wear. I will be making some victorian throw pillows, so I wanted some satin, venice lace, ribbon and/or trims. I was not disappointed, the only problem is trying to decide, because there are limitless choices. Whatever you can think of, they've got the goods to make it! There are some fabric stores with home dec fabrics and wool suit fabrics, but mostly its beaded laces, fine fabrics and just about any color or style trims you can imagine. Fun to just browse around. Makes me wish I had an event to make a dress for. I have made a few cocktail dresses and a mother of the bride dress from materials I've purchased from there.
