Everyone's sensitivites vary. I've found Tide Free/Sensitive to be great, as have many family and friends who have sensitivities, psoriasis, exema and allergies. Others here have used All Free & Clear, Charlie's soap (but that's not HE, though it's HE compatible) Cheer Free and just about anything that is a perfume/dye free. Sears has one also and Sears detergents are pretty popular. Dreft now has HE versions out and many like Dreft too. You probably need to try several and see which clean as you need without problems.

I find the aroma of most laundry soap to be completely offensive. I prefer the smell of sewer gas to the fragrance of Tide. Here are a couple of suggestions: Borax powder is an excellent laundry detergent. It is also odorless. Oxyclean is made from an adduction of borax and hydrogen peroxide. I've used Borax powder to lift food and motor grease stains from cotton. It works about the same as oxyclean at a fraction of the cost. My childred have sensitive skin. There is a scented detergent called "Caldrea" that is for people with allergies and sensitive skin. I'm not sure what fragrance we use, but it is really nice. People have even remarked about the smell coming out of the dryer exhaust. "What is that smell?" Sniff Sniff. "Is that your fabric softener?" Sniff sniff. "What does your wife use, it smells great!"

Pat I only have the CeraVe moisturizing cream..I don't have the healing ointment. I have been thinking abiut it though for my dry cracked heels. I had two very tiny samples of Aquaphor healing ointment that I've been using the past three nights. I smear it on my heels and wear old socks that I cut the toes out of I can't sleep with my toes covered...anyway this stuff is working so I figure an ointment instead of cream is what I need. I suppose I'll try the CeraVe ointment lol. I'm really happy hubs saved all of his old white cotton socks with holes thru the years because I'm not washing them lol...its wear and toss. Haha I bought a pumice stone today and ill soak later and scrub with it than apply ointment. Pat my mother swore by ointments instead of creams or lotion and if she ran out she used vaseline. Her skin including elbows, knees, and feet were as smooth as a child's when she passed at 73. Same with her sisters they all had beautiful skin. Someone told me to try Corn Huskers but though I've seen it in stores I haven't a clue what it is. Oh and while I'm here I mentioned Aldi night face cream in one of these posts..Lacura...well its all I've used besides Dove on my face for two weeks and I have developed 5 sores on my face...they are healing fine but it had to have been a reaction to the Lacura. I tossed it.

I've had issues with seb. derm on and off since HS. (And I totally know what you mean about fantasizing about shaving your head when it gets bad) The old school coal tar works for me but takes a long time, as does Rx ketoconazole shampoo. Selsun blue and some other dandruff shampoos don't. For me (sample size of 1 ;) ) one of the triggers seems to be any kind of shampoo or product buildup on my scalp. (I have no idea why this would cause yeast or other microorganism overgrowth but the correlation is pretty strong) I barely had any problems for years and then I moved somewhere with very hard water and it got really really bad within a few months. I finally realized that the shampoo I was using wasn't rinsing well. I've figured out that with hard water I have to use a good quality shampoo with sodium laureth sulfate or sodium lauryl sulfate. I use it sparingly and only wash my hair every 3 days so the SLS isn't too drying, do a weak ACV or citric acid rinse once or twice a week, and I've only needed to use medicated shampoo once in the past few years.
