Has anyone ever experienced this problem ... My daugther is 32 mos old. She has never been a good sleeper; however, we did have a good routine going until we recently bought a new house. She loves the house and her room but all night long she wakes up every hour or so rolling around and whining and then of course she wakes up and wants mommy. It seems like her stomach hurts or something but of course she doesn't say. My doctor doesn't seem to think anything is wrong, she just doesn't sleep well. How do I get her to sleep? It's difficult to just let her cry especially since our bedroom is right next to hers. Any suggestions???

One tip: Make sure she gets a very filling dinner, so grumblies in the tummy won't wake her up.

Also let her pick out something comforting to sleep with - a doll, toy or blankie.

And walk in there one night and check whether it may be too hot or cold. My DD is very hot-natured. I can't dress her in PJ's that are too warm, or she will never be comfortable. And she HATES wearing socks in bed.

You could also try leaving a soft jazz or lullaby CD playing at a very low volume in her room.

If it's a new house, of if you've done remodeling, she very well could be sick. Carpets and paints give off gases long after they've been installed. When I was in elementary school, they applied rubber strips to the steps, and the glue made me sick in the stomach every day for weeks.

Can you air the house out, or contact a local agency to find out about minimizing the effects? If it's her room that was newly carpeted/painted, maybe she could sleep somewhere else for a while?

Cindee, I don't think dead trees would rot here in Phx like other places. Such a DRY heat, and almost no rain. Plus I'd probably set one in cement instead of in the ground since it wouldn't already be there, LOL. But....I'm really liking the smaller bottle bushes a lot. Awhile back I was wondering about getting lengths of copper pipe, or even PVC I'd paint, and putting them close together but angled out, for a bottle bush. Looking at some of the new pix, it seems the pipes were fasten together in a 'bundle' then shaped outward for the branches. I like that idea a lot myself. Obviously PVC wouldn't work, but the copper would bend. Anyway, I'll eventually get my blue bottle tree, and now with the mini bottles I bought off eBay, may have that in my fairy or gnome garden! Daisydal, the Sandman lost my address years ago! LOL. But I know a lot of you on here don't sleep well at night, and some of you also have Fibromyalgia. So we might as well spend our midnight-to-dawn hours on here looking at GJ stuff. Works for me! Thank you for more sweet compliments, Everyone. And daisyme, I'm the one recieving such a great gift with the photos and talent being presented me to put in an album! I add photos fairly often, but only post when I put on a bunch like while ago. So y'all be sure to bookmark and check the album occasionally. Tho most new pix come from this forum. I'm putting together another album soon, ponds and fountains. Yep, I forgot to add, I wake up drenched too. but it has been almost 20 years since my hysty. I know I am in the clenches of meno, but at least let me sleep!!! The dogs are my #1 worst enemy at night. They have learned to reach up and drag a paw across my arm to wake me up to go out at night. Now I wonder if I am the butt of their late evening entertainment. Nibbles to Brandy: "Hey Bran, she's snoring let's go for it!" Brandy to Nibbles: " Ok, but I get to do it next time." Well... I am embarrassed to say so far so good--- we packed up the dogs and went to stay with a friend for the day on Saturday because our agent had back to back viewings schedule all day. We are very, very fortunate that we received (and accepted) a good cash offer Saturday night. So we are now under contract. I do have to put them all in their car crates and disappear for inspection but if that goes well, we should be headed to the closing table. But it was high stress- one is 15 and has some senior dementia and gets so anxious and the other two are just high energy. They never got comfortable at our friend's house even with us there. There is no way I would have been able to manage them by myself for showings during the week while hubby works. I am hoping and praying this contract keeps moving forward.... Good luck to us all!

Thanks for the suggestions. We did put brand new carpet in all of the bedrooms and painted before we moved in about 6 months ago. We did let the house air out pretty good.

She is also hot natured and hates to have heavy pajamas on and definitely no socks! I do keep her room fairly warm since she won't wear warm clothes. I'll try cooling that down.

hi there,

we moved in june and we had the same problem with our 2yo, and than we also put her in a bed and that made it harder. i took her to walmart and bought her one of those giant caillou dolls/pillows and made a big deal of it when i got it home how it was only hers for when she went to bed and she could cuddle with it and that sort of stuff this seemed to help, and the only other thing i can tell you is PATIENCE, i know it sucks but eventually she got the hang of things and is now confortable sleeping in the new house. hope this helps GOOD LUCK!!!
