Sorry I have not read all the posts so forgive me if I duplicate. My ds is 9 in 3rd grade, another late birthday. He has always been at the top of his class and loves school. He loves to read. He gets off track easily. When they come back from recess all the kids know to get out the item they need. He has to be reminded. But his teachers are so supportive of him. But it has not always been this way. He started K being the last to finish lunch and spent many lunch recesses sitting outside finishing. He was always the first to raise his hand and had a hard time waiting to be called on. The other kids would sit back and let him give all the answers. But I was fortunate enough in first grade to have a friend teach him. She said he is just fine. He needs help staying on task but is nowhere near needing "help". Second grade teacher really worked on keeping him on task. We didnt care about the behavior daily charts. It did not work. He would never stay perfect so we never made it an issue. As long as he was not a problem in class we just focused on his learning to concentrate. Now in third grade he has really improved. He waits to be called on, but still needs reminders to stay on task. He takes 10min to pick out a book so I told the teacher to give him 15seconds or they will choose. He now knows he has a choice and is doing much better. Again, teachers think he will just slowly outgrow this. One thing that really helped was something in K. The teacher made a special desk. He was told that if he had a hard time staying on task he would have to use that desk to have less distraction. Eventually he began to recognize when he was distracted and would ask to use the desk. The teacher found this to be a great tool rather than a punishment. My ds is always slow in the morning. We set up a chart of the order to do things and he has to follow it. If he is all ready to go with bookbag and coat ready at the door, he can play with the cat. If he does not follow the chart and we are rushing out the door he does not get freetime when he gets home from school. He is learning that he is responsible for his behavior and he can choose to follow it and have fun or not follow it and have no fun. I wonder if punishing your son at this age is productive. He really isn't being naughty, he is a little boy who needs help focusing. Teaching him how to manage his situation, learning control over what he can do will give him lots of confidence and he may surprise everyone in a few years. Good luck.

baking soda-- NaCO3 that might help remove plaque but you would be missing the fluoride that is the thereputic ingredient in toothpaste. if you keep switching toothpaste with no avail i am worried that this might not be the toothpaste. can you scrape this layer off when at times of the day when you have not brushed your teeth for a decent period of time? what color is this layer? does it hurt when you scrape it off? i think a clinical check up and more explaination would help figure out what this is. my advice is to call your dentist and explain that you have tried different toothpastes and try to explain what the problem is. best of luck

SteveP2005 Thanks for the pictures and additional info, I think I can handle any repairs if necessary. On Rust, Propane, winter and Salt air; here's my opinion for what it's worth. We lived in the Pacific NW for 25 yrs. Not a lot of humidity, some winter, no salt air. My Kiln sat outside under cover. The venturi air mixers and the burners never rusted. I had to periodically take them apart because spiders would weave in front of the nozzle which made it impossible to light the burner. You could smell the gas flow but werent able to light it. Fast forward to SW Florida, it's rarely cold, its hot, its humid and the salt air ruins everything. During a storm, the salt is visible on the glass doors. These same venturi mixers now require regular cleaning. I take them apart, use a long brush to loosen the rust in the interior mixer, ream the air holes (not a technical term) on the cast iron burner to make everything work before a firing. I used propane at both locations. My conclusion is; it's not the propane nor the heat or the cold, it's the salt air which is unbelievably corrosive. In your case I don't know about the additive and how that plays with all of the other factors. Inga

When did fluoride become bad for you? It used to be desireable for keeping teeth strong. My ex was a dentist and since our water had no fluoride, he gave the kids chewable fluoride. Both are now adults and have good teeth. I really dislike when “they” change their minds about what it good or bad for you. Eggs have gone from good to bad then back to good but not too many. Now they say a baby aspirin a day is not useful. I have a bottle of painkillers to deal with my post operative pain. I had a heck of a time opening it, especially since my incisions hurt when I pressed down. Just this morning I had to use a giant wrench to open a bottle juice and scissors open the bag inside the cereal box.
