Nightmares in a 2 year old

My two year old daughter is having nightmares every night. At around 2 every morning, she wakes me and her younger sister up screaming and crying. In the morning, she keeps talking about a ghost. She has began to refuse to sleep without a nightlight and is becoming a real problem to put to sleep at all even during the day. This has been going on for a while now and I could really use some advice. I haven't been getting much sleep because after she wakes me and her sister up, she always ends up in bed with me (husband always wants to keep her close after a nightmare). She tends to be a bed hog and keeps me awake for hours after she get in bed with us.

My guess is your daughter is having nighmares because of what your husband does to you and the kids.Youd be suprised at how much it affects them.

I thought of that it just confuses me that she always runs to her daddy after the nightmare.

ann-elizabeth - that is GREAT news! Sounds like things are turning your way (and very much deserved!). The trade for the tub sounds very reasonable to me if he'll go for it. If MSRP is $4600 regular retail would be maybe $3500 to $4000? He'd be getting the tub for a great price and it would knock a lot off your cost. He'll probably be a LOT more gentle taking the tub out for his own use as well ;-) Good of you too to donate the sinks. Re: the Bain Ultra. A small warning. About 10 minutes after the jets have been run, the motor kicks on automatically to blow any residual water out of the air vents. If you are not expecting this, it will scare the holy *** out of ya. Trust me on this ;-) Also, if you like bubbles in your bath, don't be generous with the amount. You'll end up with more than you've planned ;-) Looking forward to the day that I see you've posted that you took a long hot soak and feel like you've had a good massage. Robo, it sounds like you had fun! I missed this post so I'm glad you gave an update. Mayflowers, thank you so much for the colored salt jar idea. That can be one of the crafts I do with my grandsons next time we do a sleepover. My DGSs spent the night last night. I got out my markers, colored pencils, oil pastels, graphite pencils and an assortment of papers. While they were working on their drawings I was playing music. My oldest DGS asked if it was Beethoven. As soon as they were finished with their project they had out their iPads and were listening to Whip NaeNae. I videoed the oldest DGS doing the dance and we sent it and pictures of their artwork to Mom. Bedtime is still a problem with the boys, they are only fifteen months apart and they pick on each other unmercifully at bedtime. I'm going to order a cot bunk bed for them as the second queen size inflatable mattress bit the dust.

THANKS so much, Debra! Your feedback means a lot to me. I agree on the Smoke Scream kid....it is a personal favorite of mine. I just couldn't stop looking at it, almost in disbelief that it was so stunning. Those sepals, outlined in white like that, are special indeed and they curl up like ribbons. There are 4 seedlings of this cross but this is the only one that bloomed this year. The stats reflect that it is planted in a less than ideal location where it doesn't get enough sun (overhanging limbs from trees)....only 10 buds....but not bad for a one year old. It is tall, 39 inches. I should move it to a better spot since I have high hopes for this one. All the seedlings I am showing were LA seed wins just to get me dabbling in seedling culture last summer but everything from this year forth are all my own crosses. Hey, I've got the exact same range as you do. I think mine was built in 1995, but it looks identical other than my red knobs vs. your black ones. I can generally fix anything myself, so am currently searching the interwebs for a service manual. I'm definitely keeping mine. Also, ours has also always had the 25 degree offset for the ovens, confirmed with oven temp gauges sitting in there on the racks. We just always set things 25 degrees higher than we want, confirming it on the mechanical gauge inside the oven. I was able to fix the minor problems myself. Pretty easy to do for people who know how to do that sort of stuff. Most repair people only know how to replace parts, which would be a problem if you can't find your part, but I'm sure some people can actually fix the parts if that is needed. My oven thermostats were sticking, so I cleaned those up to be smooth again. I noticed what looks like an adjustment screw on the temperature knob, but did not bother trying to change it, but may do so if the 25 degree offset ever bothers me enough. I found ADCO service in Scottsdale, AZ that sent me PDFs of the manual and parts sheets. I'm pretty sure they repair these and may sell some parts too. They seem very helpful. I'm definitely keeping this range as long as I live here.

I know What you mean, my kids always loved and played with daddy,even just after they had seen him be abusive.I dont know the answer to that.Although my eldest who is 13(she isnt biologically his)but he did bring her up since she was 4 months old and she didnt know any different has her real dad has never been around,she saw alot of the goings on ,always loved him ,untill she got to about 8 or nine and then she changed towards him,and now she absolutly hates him,when my other two kids (his kids)go to see him,she never wants to see him again.She will never forget what he was like,and I hate myself for putting her through it.my second daughter was two when I left him,she too had nightmares all the time,talked about monsters and stuff when she woke,but she still loved daddy,and still does.Im convinced it was the shouting and abuse she was witnessing.Now she is four and sleeps soundly,she does have the odd one or two every so often.google parents fighting hurt children,im sure nightmares will pop up somewhere.I may be wrong about your daughter because nightmares arnt uncommen,but Im sure thats why mine had them.

That's what keeps confusing me. I made plans to leave and everything but then I was told about some of the laws in this state. If I take my children across state lines, I can be forced to bring them back. The law says that the children stay with the parent who is best able to care for them and I haven't had a job in three years. I had to quit when I was pregnant with my first daughter and my husband hasn't really wanted me to go back to work. That makes him the parent that is best able to care for the children. The only way that this changes is if I have proof of abuse.

Excuse,excuse,excuse,Beleive me, i am not being horrible,I know you are not ready to leave,but you will be one day.You say the law says the children stay with the parent who is best able to care for them.well that is YOU,just because he is earning does not make him the better parent,If you were really botherd ,every time he hits you ,you would call the police so there is a police record,sweetheart your precious kids are suffering.
