Help for Tackling the Toddler Years

I found this very interesting article. I took the test for my DD and it said she was "Text Book". I think for the most part she is, but I can definitely see bits of the "Angel" and the "Touchy" toddler that fit her too. I am curious to see what other parents think of this.

I have an angel, althought there are times I would say otherwise. LOL Some of those tests are hard to do because they're not always exactly true. Like different factors will make the child respond differently to each situation. But we have always found that we could do anything with DS as a baby and a toddler and he was fine with it. We didn't have to have a steady routine to make him happy. He was a wonderful baby and everyone always says you get the opposite the next time so we best watch out! LOL

My current toddler, third child, DD age 2 (27 mos if you want to be precise) is a tie between text book and spirited. With two older brother, she needs that spirited streak to get through the day!

The whole time I was answering, I kept thinking I bet DH would answer the same questions about the same child differently. I bet his results would push her over the line to spirited.

I wonder how much birth order has to do with these things? Maybe she talks about that, I skipped to the test and plan to go back and read. Without actually answering the questions about each child, my first was darn near an angel, he was very easy. Or maybe life was just easier with only him. My second, definitely spirited, still is (maybe he's teaching his sister).

We have a ton of hostas over at the cottage we bought diagonal from our property. So no $$$ lost on them. I may just keep them closer to the sides that are without trellises on the inside. Adding hardscape and planting larger rocks and possibly a small bench or tiny checkers table and chairs. To the one side under the gazebo. Or...something to display a collection of birdhouses on. Worst case we just do hardscape under it. And a few eye catching details to catch ones eye when you walk through. I must admit...you voice a Huge concern of mine though Yardvaark. Though free plants won't break the budget at least.

Oh! That is AWESOME! *I don't care if no one uses that word any more...sometimes it's appropriate.* You cracked the whip and tamed that wild beast! Congratulations. Sadly, in cleaning up the dining room with a deadline today, I brought some clutter back into my home office closet that I previously removed. At least I know I can deal with it without taking too much time in the very near future. I know exactly what you mean about deep cleaning too. I just hate to dust, but it's not so bad when the clutter is gone. My dining room has been reclaimed, for which I am grateful. Celtic, I wish you had a scanner too. Tell us about the picture. But that one's just really a booster seat after 40 lbs. -- you can even tell by the name description. You can only wear the 5 point harness up to 40 lbs.-- since it's convertible it just becomes a booster seat then. I'm looking for one where the harness can be worn over 40 lbs. My doctor swears they exist... I am beginning to think he's crazy. All I'm finding are those convertible booster types like you noted. I'm not sure what people are supposed to do with heavy 3 yr olds in the states when they aren't allowed in boosters legally until they're 4. I can legally put my kid in a booster, but I would prefer the 5 point harness thing if they exist... Thanks anyway.

Hi s y, I can't say how much I love this space! It's been amazing, but there are a few irritations that I need to remedy. One big one is the fact that it's detached from my house, with no good covered pathway between the two. I often find myself jumping out of bed because I forgot to lock things up, which isn't bad in the summer, but during Oregon's rainy season, well you can imagine. :) I'm researching solutions that will allow me to remotely control the door lock, heater, music and lights. I'm looking closely at the Brilliant Smart Home solutions. Mine is almost 3 and he is almost evenly split between all the categories.

My son is also evenly split between text book and spirited although I think he's leaning towards SPIRITED!

I didn't have DH take the test, but I found ds to be split between angel and spirited. It's quite a combo.
