About what size??

I am wanting to get a coat for my DS for next winter this January/February. And am wonder about what size(in clothes) were your boys when they were 18 mths to two years. I would like him to be able to wear it from mid-October to the end of April. Since I live in an area where we have WINTER.
DS is 21 lbs now, 30 inches long and he wears sizes 12-18 mths. He is almost 9 months old.

| DS is 20 months and he wears a size 2T. For comparison to your child, I think DS wore a size 12M at around 9 mo and was getting into the 18M size at his 1 year birthday. Children don't seem to grow as fast during their second year as they do their first. |

| My DS was a premie and had to catch up but last winter when DS would have been 18 months, we bought him a 2T. He wore it half of last winter (after Christmas) until this Christmas. Now this Christmas he got 2 coats from two of his grandparents and one is a 4 and the other is a 3, but they both fit. It's kind of hard to determine what a child will be wearing or how a certain coat will fit by next year. I know some babies that were just huge and grew into huge toddlers! Like my one nephew is about the size of a 4 year old and he's 2 1/2. You never know, but I guess I would say that a 2 would be your best bet. Just be prepared for it not to fit all winter. ~Leslie~ |

| My DD is an average sized 23 month old. Her 2T's are getting almost too small. My DS's were bigger but I can't remember what size they wore when. I'd say you'd be safest with a 3T. Better a little big than too small! :>) |

| MY SON IS 28 MONTHS AND WEARS A 2T OR SOMETIMES A 3T. HE WAS ALWAYS PRETTY TRUE TO SIZE WITH ALL OF HIS CLOTHING...WEARING THE SIZES THAT CORRESPONDED WITH HIS AGE. IT'S HARD TO TELL HOW MUCH THEY WILL GROW...YOU JUST NEVER KNOW. |

| If your just buying a coat for next winter, I'd say you'd be safe getting a size 2T, My son is 19mos old and wears anywhere between an 18-2/3T depending on what it is. Pants always need to be smaller and more true to size, as not to have them tripping all day! As far as shirts and jackets go I always buy bigger! I buy my son size 2T/3T tops and jackets as to get the most wear out of them...pants I buy in a size 18-24mos. Usually if I buy an outfit that is size 2T, the shirt will fit him fine, but the pants will be to large, so beware of this when buying sets! Happy shopping..enjoy your little one~ ~JEN. | My son is almost 19mo, 32 inches tall, and 26lbs. He's wearing a 2T. He's also cloth diapered, which adds some bulk. |

| My guys were preemies, weighing 3.14, 3.15, and 3.8 when born. They are now 22 months old (some consider them 20 months old, because they were 7-1/2 weeks early) and they currently wear size 3T. They are all pretty tall, the shortest is 36", the tallest 38", and weigh between 30-36 pounds. My mom bought them size 3T jackets for this year, and as long as they continue with their growth, I hope that they can wear them next year as well... but I am preparing to buy 4T jackets next year... just in case! |

| I bought a 3t jacket for my son at 23 months, and he wore it (with the sleeves slightly rolled up!) until just about a month ago. he's turning 3 next week. they definitely slow down on the growing- but DS had a round tummy and a 2t definitely wouldn't have worked, even if the sleeves were the right length and everything else was perfect. it's hard to judge- I'd go with 3t and roll the sleeves up rather than make him squeeze into a coat that's too tight by early spring. by then, the coats have already been clearanced and it'll be hard to find another one! |
