Hi Prairiemoon. To see how much a folder holds you open Explorer, right click on the folder in question then click Properties. This will tell you the total size of the folder and how many files are in there. There is no way to tell how many files can fit on a CD simply because there are files of just a few kilobytes and other can be many megabytes. In future you might consider creating a new folder inside ÂMy documents perhaps  (open Explorer, click ÂMy documents to highlight it, click File at the top, click ÂNew click ÂFolderÂ. Type a name you wish to use. Now you can copy your photos into that occasionally doing the right click/properties thing on the folder name to check for overall folder size, stopping when you either have all the needed photos or capacity is reached. As you have 262 megs on the CD you can add about 438 more megs to fill it. You may get a warning about compatibility but continue on. I do and it is fine. No, you cannot delete anything from a CD once it is burned. Practise a little, you may make a few throw away disks but you will learn the right way. (Any I throw away I scratch across the medium a few times in case it gets picked out of the garbage  unlikely but I am a bit cautious with family photos) All files burned to CD are ÂRead onlyÂ, they cannot be otherwise because you cannot alter them. You can copy any that need editing back to your hard drive but you will need to give it another name before being allowed to modify it. I generally add a number to the end if it is a name or a letter if the title is numerical. Again, once the CD is burned changes are not possible so the name remains the same. You can of course write what you like on the CD using a Sharpie or getting fancy with CD labels if you plan on doing quite a few. Labelling kits are around $20  and up for the kit and software or the opportunity to download software from the vendorÂs site. Using a Sharpie I write right across the middle of a CD or DVD so it shows through the window of my paper sleeves. I have no time or space for the plastic things CDs go in. I use any known brand of CD or DVD myself, I do not use off brands. Why risk failing? If the material is considered important enough to save then save it confident that it can be retrieved at a future time. I would not burn photos to a DVD simply because of the huge numbers capable of being burned. Of course if you really plan ahead and get all you photos lined up as you want them in folders and sub folders then it might be feasible. On that note, why are blank DVDs so much cheaper than blank CDs these days? Books to my mind are not the answer regarding computers. They are out of date before they reach the street at times and can be very expensive. Personally I am a big fan of Google. Type Âphoto editing tutorial or what ever you need to know ending in Âtutorial and you will get thousands of pages come up. Look through those and find perhaps 3 that are written in a style you personally are comfortable with and save those to your Bookmarks/Favourites. Actually breastfeeding is a great time saver. No formula to buy, no bottles to wash and prepare. You can do it anywhere and once a mother and baby are in the groove it is easy to multitask. I ate dinner,shopped,cooked and read to my DD while nursing. Plus cuddling your child is the most important job you will ever have. It's funny. My DD were talking just last night about this. She is having some pretty strong pre-labor contractions so we are on the phone a lot. She said "mom I am so looking foward to having this baby and I feel so empowered". "I'm glad I'm breast feeding too cuz I'm feeling too lazy for bottles" LOL I told her I felt the same way when i had her and her brother. Natural childbirth with minimal intervention is keeping it simple and breast feeding is a no brainer IF you ignore the advice of anyone who hasn't done it for at least a year themselves. Now I know a bunch will chime in and say they tried but couldn't. I'll be blunt -- 99%+ of failing to breastfeed are due to poor advice or not going with your own instincts. Many breast fed babies are leaner than formula fed ones. Many lose a bit of weight in the days following birth. Some nurse frequently but for short periods of time and others are titty monsters. LOL It is not like bottle feeding. there is no right schedule other than demand feeding. You cannot see how much the baby is getting so young mothers panic. There is almost always enough milk unless the mother has an underlying health condition. Doctors and pediatricians have mixed advice and are not the best ones to listen to. (unless they themselves have breastfed for a least one year) I was told I couldn't breast feed through mastitis (milk fever), I did thanks to a wonderful book I'd read with real advice from nursing mothers. I was told to give it up when I got torticollis due to the drugs I would have to take. I found a c doctor who offered an alternative treatment with drugs that wouldn't enter my bloodstream and milk. I had a pediatrician who wanted me to stat solids early. I didn't and after several visits of being told by him that DD must be eating very well and to keep adding more, ignoring my telling him she was exclusively on breast milk I dumped him. I threw away the pacifiers (gift) and dumped the formula the hospital sent home with me. Had I used them maybe things wouldn't have worked out as well . Who knows but I wasn't taking any chances of anything coming between me and my ability to breast feed.

perhaps off topic but someone might profit from our experience: When we were in early planning stage, I happened to be on a committee with a local contractor. I mentioned that we were trying to think about DIY changes to our small tract house but didn't have budget for architect. He went off on an angry tangent, then apologized. His point was that companies like his have good people on staff who can help people like me for much less money. Our project included an addition, garage tie-in, basement, new windows and siding for the old house, and modified driveway. Landscaping and geothermal heating/cooling were also a part of the story but weren't necessary for design plan. We ended up hiring his in-house designer who created full plans and secured the building permit for us. Although we had a number of wrangles at certain points--primarily dealing with aesthetics and about reuse (ie, we didn't want to buy new stuff)--using this designer was a good avenue for us. I don't think we spent much more than you will be spending yet we got plans that we could modify as we needed to and I'm not afraid the roof will cave in after the removal of a bearing wall. The man knew practical carpentry and gave DH suggestions as to how to do the work, esp how to sequence the work. He suggested sub-contractors who have proved to be good ones. I went to a lighting store and talked to their lighting designer subsequently and redid the original lighting configuration, esp the substitution of pendants and flushmounts for recessed lights. DH did the wiring and we made a lot of changes to the switching. The kitchen itself was the subject of a two-month wrangle. The designer showed us a number of ideas which didn't work for me very well, then finally one came that was a hit. He understood general kitchen design pretty well but hadn't worked with a kitchen gardener before. We took his plans to cabinet shops, modified them some more, and ended up with a great kitchen design. The cabinetmaker (we chose the one recommended by the contractor) and I fine-tuned it. The aesthetics and materials are all restricted by our taste and budget. We had the right of ki-bosh at every step. (We're into our third summer on this project now but we're on the home stretch at last.) If we had wanted to, we could have hired the contractor and I think it would have worked out, although as with the subcontractors we used, it would have taken some wrangling to get our ideas taken seriously. One thing that can be a problem if you're DIY or semi-DIY: if you seem to be knowledgeable, the person you're working with might not make suggestions. You really need to solicit them overtly--"Here's what we are thinking about but we might not know all our options. Is there something we're missing here? Do you see a problem? Do you know of a better product?"

Allnewappliances, I HONESTLY (and that is heartfelt, not yelling) think that those comments were made in a lighthearted manner. I think over on Flooring, they must hear that question of how to get scratches out of something that WILL scratch a billion times. It was your first time asking the question, but it was a jumping off point to express the basic idea that floors will scratch. Dents will happen...life will happen. Like the first scratch on a new car, you have to get over it. I think the point of "people living in an imperfect world" was not meant to say you are stupid and expecting the impossible, but rather to reiterate the fact that in this world these days, we do expect a bit of perfection and irrational instant gratification. It might not have been appropriate to use your simple question as a soapbox, but it was actually right on the money. A child playing on a hardwood floor, a dog walking on a hardwood floor, a chair pulled on a hardwood floor... WILL scratch it. That's the nature of the product. I tell people that every day when I sell them hardwood and they ask "will it scratch?" I tell them yes, it will, but some woods/species/colors will show it more than others. The beauty is still worth it. There was a comedian who said "People today expect everything to be perfect... if our cell phone takes a second longer to connect, we say 'Come on, you stupid thing'... Hey, IT'S GOING TO SPACE AND BACK, People! Give it a second!!" I think of that every time I want to "fix" something that just is. My dents on my month old refrigerator remind me every day... things get broken, sometimes too easily. Par for the course of living. Taking those comments in the spirit of "life is too short, get over it for the sake of your sanity" would be a good recommendation. And it is true, based on the number of people who want to fix every little scratch... if you DO figure out something, do patent it... you would be rich. That, too, is just another way of saying there really isn't a perfect product to purchase that will fix that most basic of hardwood complaints. I thought it was kind of clever, but if you were already on the defensive (which I have been there, too, and I understand... ), it can be read differently. I've seen just as many "tones" and "irritating posts" on the Kitchen Forum... but for the most part, people kiss and make up easier here. ;)
