Use baby monitor for pet?

It's been years since I had babies or monitors and I know they've vastly improved. I was wondering if you think I could use one at my back door so I can hear when my kitty wants to come inside. They aren't very weatherproof are they? I was hoping I could mount one on the door frame somehow and leave it there. Are any of the bases wall mountable?

I know it sounds crazy but it would save me from checking the window every 10 minutes!

Sorry to bother you busy moms with this but you ARE the experts on baby monitors! By the way, the only part of my life I would gladly relive is the part you are in now :)

You can use it for anything you want. Does the cat meow to come in, or like mine, scratch at the door? I doubt you would hear the scratching.
