The real under gravel issue is, I think Bindi is going through his Social puberty, read about it in feline behavioral books ( not sexual, social. It happens later then sexual in gen hits between age of 2 and 4) and the move with the new cat happened right in the thick of it. Bindi isn't even 3 yet. Leopalorn is almost 2 (I do think the purebred in him will tone it down) but I told dad don't expect Leopalorn to always be nice. He'll probably play longer but I'm sure it still happens.

Same experience as Jakabedy and Sippimom: I have a cairn terrier, and her hair will NOT wash out of the fleece. (Had some for her predecessor pup, too, same thing.) I had a small fleece blanket and I also got some fleece yardage at JoAnns fabric store when on sale but I've pretty much tossed those out (I think I saved just one). You also have to be mindful of where you place that fleece. My sofa is navy and has a textured surface (can't recall what kind of upholstery it is), and that stuff will pick up litle bits of fleece from a microfiber blanket I got at Kohls last year. I was trying to clean the sofa this morning (2 visitors might stop by today), and between the Pledge Fabric Sweeper for Pets and a sticky rip-off-the-used-sheet lint roller, it took me a long time. After that effort, I didn't want to pull out the vacuum. I will have to look for a little blanket with a slick top surface, I think.

When she was about three, we started calling our youngest child "Avalanche" because it seemed that wherever she went, things collapsed and fell down - store displays, book shelves, stacks of papers, etc. She is 23 now, tall, willowy, beautiful, educated. Never clumsy, actually quite graceful and athletic. Well...This morning she left to teach English in S. Korea for a year, Last night, perhaps as her parting shot, she knocked over a plant her daddy and I received as a wedding present in 1968, just as we were about to sit down to dinner! All our "big kids" and their families (19 of us) were here to say farewell. At the sound of the crash, almost in unison the big kids called, "AVALANCHE!!!" When the cloud of dirt/dust settled, you should have seen the look on her face. Every surface in two rooms was covered in black grit and we had to toss dinner. I have kept that plant alive for 40 years, given it away a hundred times to acquaintances and each of our kids as they married, sort of as a symbol of longevity. As big as the mess was (actually, still is - I have to repot the plant and clean the rooms) I'm oddly glad it happened. My little Avalanche is going to be gone for a year, and I am terribly sad about that.

Rather than crate, which I fully understand is a the recommended answer to your question (so no lectures needed I just don't believe in it) or investing in cameras so you can watch your house get destroyed, you could enclose him into a single "safe room" while he's small and you're gone. When mine was 8 weeks, I kept her in our enclosed shower or a VERY large great dane sized crate until I had her trained. Both options offered enough room for play and accidents didn't destroy any flooring. My first response to people wanting to control in house problems though is you need to invest time in your dog; training and exercise solve so many problems. Puppies are never too young to start especially with simple commands. Training and adequate exercise for his breed is almost a sure way to have a dog that does not destroy. It helps with bonding, it helps you keep the dog safe from harm, it helps the dog understand your expectations AND it helps to make sure all of your possessions stay intact. After the puppy stage, most dogs destroy due to boredom, exercise relieves that. Also just a tip many folks don't realize: don't use anything like socks or old shoes as tug a war toys, they don't relate between socks or old shoes that are allowed to be chewed and the new 100.00 shoes you may have just bought. It will all be fair game.
