I was searching the web for product information about some baby things we received secondhand and I came across this site that lists all the items that have been listed as recalls in the past few years. I think it's wise to check out this site from time to time to make sure all your items are safe - there were soooo many of them listed here it would be almost impossible to find out otherwise.

Little Tikes Has Recalled Pop 'n Scoot Ride-on Toys
Hudson, OH (SafetyAlerts) - The Little Tikes Company has recalled about 21,400 Pop 'n Scoot Ride-on toys. Young children who lean forward can fall forward over the handlebars, causing facial injuries.

Little Tikes has received 10 reports of children falling forward over the toy's handlebars. Seven injuries to children include damaged teeth, stitches to the chin, cuts and scratches to the mouth and face.

The Pop 'n Scoot Ride-on toy is made of molded plastic with a clear dome filled with colorful beads attached to the handlebars. The riding toys have a yellow body, a red seat and red handlebars with blue hand grips. The identification number 32922XX 1 is molded on the underside of the ride-on body. The model number 1568-01 and "Made In U.S.A." is molded on the bottom of the storage area below the red seat. The product was sold for children age 9 months to 36 months old.

Toy stores nationwide sold the riding toys from March 2001 through May 13, 2002 for about $20.

Consumers should stop using the toys immediately and contact Little Tikes at www.littletikes.com or call (866) 765-6729 anytime to receive a Little Tikes replacement product.

I notice the article says the bibs were sold between June 2004 and this past March. I think 600 ppm of lead is sufficient to do brain as well as liver/kidney damage to an infant... but 2 years later, how many folks would know what brand of bib they had purchased? I doubt I could have told you a week later, much less years! Let's not fine the company that produced those bibs -- Let's instead have that company pay for all the medical tests for lead poisoning for any child that might have been exposed. Just reading through this thread again and I remembered this. Shortly after my oldest was born, I wanted to buy an extra crib to put at my mother's house since she was going to host him (I don't like the word babysit when it refers to people like Dads and Grandparents) regularly. I bought one for $60 at a garage sale (circa 1987). Several years later when my younger son was out of the crib, I sold same crib at my own garage sale for, you guessed it, $60. Although I guess the $60 I received in ~1993 was worth less than the $60 I shelled out in 1987, I was pretty happy with the deal. The stuff I gave to the shelter was the stuff I'd had in my own home (as opposed to the crib at my mom's).
