Baby's hair

My 4 month old, Logan, has beautiful red hair...but only mostly on the back of his head!! It has been this way pretty much since birth, but he has lost more on top since. When did you notice that your baby finally grew in the hair that was missing when he/she was born? I am just so curious to know what his hairline will be, the final color, etc. Thanks!

RE: Baby's hair

The way hair grows depends on genetics and your family. In my immediate family, babies are born with some hair, blond or red. That hair starts falling out at around 4 months and usually comes in a lighter shade of blond. Red heads stay red heads. Our hair gets darker as we get older. The boys seem to stay a light blond and the girls are still on the blond scale, but much darker. The red heads turn auburn or brown.

It's hard to tell what your ds's hair will do. Your best guess would be to look at other family members to see how their hair changed.

Timberly lost a little where she would rub her head while sleeping or in the carseat...It's really thick now (thicker than the rest of her hair), and I guess it started growing back at about 7 mos or so...
