White Eye on my DEAD baby koi
Comments (6)A lot would depend on when the baby koi died. Did it have the white eye when it died, or could a fungus have possibly started growing there after it died? If the growth started after the koi died, there may not be any need to treat the pond. Have you noticed any problems with your fish after the goldfish problem cleared up? Many people swear by salt, but others have stated that salt has been overused, much like antibiotics in humans, to the point where it is not as effective as it once was. It would not harm the fish to use salt, but I don't know its effectiveness against fungus. If you do use it, you may need to remove any plants, since most plants will not tolerate high levels of salt. Sorry I culdn't be more help, but I'm hoping others will see this thread and help you out....See Morebaby blue eyes spruce
Comments (8)There is I believe a huge difference between baby blue and baby blue eyes. The latter I have NEVER been able to see let alone purchase. Baby blue seem a lot more common. But when one goes to Google or "Ask.com" or even tree websites I will bet big money the wrong answers come up for the description of the different type. So there is a lot of confusion out there between the two even amongst so called "experts". As a result I have no clue about the difference. I have planted baby blue which are much bluer and much denser and more uniform in presentation than regular blue spruce. How different they will be in a few years - compared to the baby blue eyes - who knows....See More3 new babies! 2 Need IDs!
Comments (10)UGH! Tami it's terrible! They do just jump in to my hands as well! The worst part is that I pass by a store that has a decent selection (for this area) every morning on my way to and on my home from dropping my daughter off at day care! I always manage to stop! I can't help myself!...See MoreBaby Blue Eyes Vs baby blueyes
Comments (1)I thought there had been discussion on this before? Picea pungens glauca 'Baby Blue Eyes' comes from Verl Holden of Holden Wholesale Growers, Silverton, Oregon. Named for Verl's nickname for his first wife. Verl is still around, active, and has a very long-standing relationship with the hort dept at OSU. OSU's database of trees on campus says "Discovered in 1972 as a chance seedling growing in a cultivated group of grafted Picea pungens 'Moerheimi' by Verl Holden in his nursery in Silverton, Oregon (Plant Patent 5,457)" I did notice that OSU has a typo, 'Blueeyes" that may well have contributed to the confusion. However, may I suggest that you satisfy your curiosity and then correct the ACS database by giving the originator a call? He's a wonderful person and a real wealth of information....See MoreMary_T
