Comments (6)A lot would depend on when the baby koi died. Did it have the white eye when it died, or could a fungus have possibly started growing there after it died? If the growth started after the koi died, there may not be any need to treat the pond. Have you noticed any problems with your fish after the goldfish problem cleared up? Many people swear by salt, but others have stated that salt has been overused, much like antibiotics in humans, to the point where it is not as effective as it once was. It would not harm the fish to use salt, but I don't know its effectiveness against fungus. If you do use it, you may need to remove any plants, since most plants will not tolerate high levels of salt. Sorry I culdn't be more help, but I'm hoping others will see this thread and help you out....See MoreBaby Blue Eyes
Comments (4)I got Baby Blue Eyes this spring - you will love it! Fair warning thought... it isn't a tiny "mini" it is a small. I will try to get a photo tomorrow....... As far as price coming down? I dunno - I would think about 3 years before it drops significantly. Here is my logic: Year 1 - the super-serious collectors go crazy over it and pay top $ Year 2 - the super-serious collectors post photos and the rest of the addicts decide they "need" that gorgeous plant and shell out very good $$ Year 3 - Nurseries finally figure out that a plant is popular and start making it more widely available. Non addicts buy it at local nurseries because it is a nice landscape plant. Year 4 - market is almost saturated, price begins to come down a bit This is just my best guess though, I am certainly not an expert by any means! And please feel free to disagree with my logic above, this was just a 4:00 AM rambling thought.... Alexa...See More2/3 Babies Dead
Comments (7)The one must have already fledged - like I said there were only the two dead ones in the box.... your thinking pesticides? I'd be surprised as I'm on 5 acres and the blues primarily hunted in our yard - which is absolutely pesticide free.... our neighbors to one side of us have no yard so no need for pesticides. Now our neighbors to the other side - which is through the woods, may have applied some, and then they are next to a farm - which also may have some applied. Anyway - it just seems weird - so close to them being ready to fledge. Any idea if they will do a third nest? Or are they done for the season here in MI?...See MoreMary_T
