Sharp pain in breast...

Posted by Paty (My Page) on

Ever since I let my milk dry up (about 3 weeks ago) I have had a tender spot in my right breast. It's on the side near my armpit and is very tender to the touch. Kind of like a pinched nerve or something. There are no weird lumps, bumps, or discoloring (looks & feels normal) but when my DH goes to hug me or I examine that area it radiates a shooting pain. What's causing this??? Should I see a dr or will it go away??? I think I had the pain when I was breastfeeding but since my breasts were so tender all the time anyhow I just attributed it to that. My left breast is normal.

I had something like that once. When I would lie down or bend over it would cause shooting pains that would take away my breath. I went to the dr and he said that I should use ibuprofen and alternate between hot and cold packs. He said that he thought that is was a duct that was infected or inflammed. It went away in a few days. Hope this helps!
