 o
7 month old and new skills

I've heard that as babies learn and master a new skill that they "forget" some others. My 7 month old has been rolling from belly to back for a couple of months. He doesn't really roll from back to belly much, but he loves to be on his back. Lately, he has gotten much sturdier at sitting up on his own and more coordinated when reaching for objects. I can tell his eye hand coordination is really changing....but now he won't roll. When placed on his belly he will still hold himself up on his arms, but will fuss and fuss and bury his face into the floor, but will not roll. Is this because he is working on other skills or should I be concerned? It has been about a week since I noticed.

RE: 7 month old and new skills

I'm seeing the same with my 7 mo. old. She'll flip onto her stomach and then cry when I know that she knows how to flip back. She also loves being in a sitting position and it's amazing how far she can reach and she can spin around on her butt 360 degrees and schooch from one end of playmate to other all while sitting up. I figure why would she try to crawl when she can still get to where she wants to be.
