Comments (5)Yes, your kitty could be allergic to something in the food. Here's another thought. Does he eat dry food? If he does, it's possible he's gobbling the food down too quickly and that could be causing the vomiting. I know that doesn't necessarily explain the poop, but try feeding him only a little bit of food at a time. Like give a small portion and then wait 20 mins. Then give him a little bit more etc. That might help with the vomiting. If he gets wet food you could try it that way too. Just give a little bit at a time. As for the poop in the wrong place. As cats age sometimes they get forgetful - just like humans. My previous cat had this problem. He went in the wrong places, but once we moved the box it almost stopped. I say almost b/c sometimes he had accidents, but it was definitely a lot less. I would try putting out more than one box. Keep one in the usual place and another in the bedroom where he does inappropriate poop. I hope this helps!...See MoreRemoving cat throw up odor
Comments (4)My experience shows that cats will not/cannot be trained to barf in an assigned area. The best thing to do...is just as you did...find a good carpet cleaner-stain remover. My current cat, Odessa, is the only cat I've ever had who is not a barfer at all...she's been with us for a year and a half and has only barfed up one hairball...nothing else. My late cats have ranged from constant regurgitators (undigested food after meals) to less frequent hairball barfers. Other posters on this board have suggested that some cats have a physical malformation of their esophagus that may make them more prone to barfing. But whatever it is, this is a totally involuntary action that, unlike elimination, your cat cannot control. Comments (35)My previous cat had a similar problem. It is possible your cat may be sick so you should take her to the vet just to be safe. However, it could be an issue that your cat is eating her food too quickly and it's too much at once so they throw it up. My previous cat suffered from this for a long time. There are several ways to tackle this problem. First, you could give the cat only a little bit of food at a time. Give a little. Wait 10 minutes. Give a little more, repeat process until all the food given. This is a simple method, but I also realize some people are busy and don't have 30 minutes to feed / wait / feed wait. Second, (and this may sound a little weird and it ONLY for dry food, not wet) but put large SMOOTH stones in the food bowl. The purpose of doing this is that it takes the cat longer to pick out the food bits around the stones / crevices. It basically forces the cat to eat more slowly. Third, you could give your cat only wet food. This method worked very well for a friend of mine who also had a cat who threw up all the time because he ate too quickly. In general cats take longer to eat wet food. Anyhow, I understand the frustrations of cats throwing up all the time. It gets a little annoying cleaning it up constantly. Comments (17)Thanks for the bump. I've been dealing with some other issues with a family member that sort of put this all in perspective (but definitely don't make them any less annoying)! OK this is long: By way of background, GC did the installation himself (my kitchen was a relatively minor reno - floor, counter, minor "bar" construction, backsplash and appliances). I spoke with him on Wed. He said he thought there was an issue with the tile itself, he hoped tile store would cooperate, and he thought we'd have to rip it all up and redo it. He said he'd talk to tile store earlier in the day and that they were calling their corporate office. He then discloses that the first time he installed travertine on a floor was, you guessed it, my kitchen. I said I thought he'd worked with travertine before - turns out he'd only installed travertine on a wall before, not a floor. I think to myself, "this does not bode well." I should also mention there were earlier issues with the floor post-installation. There were two tiles that developed holes a couple of months ago. One was when I was wearing heels and I saw/felt it happen - the heel just sunk into the tile. The other one just appeared out of nowhere. That, to me, seemed more like a product issue. The cracking - when coupled with GC's admission that he hadn't installed travertine before and his statement that "if it required a different installation, the tile store should have told me" -- seriously?? -- seemed like it was his issue. (I didn't mention this when we spoke the first time, I just listened). He said he would re-do it for me, that he needed to make it right, without charging me for the time, and that he'd let me know what tile store said. So, he talked to the tile store yesterday. Not surprisingly, they blame him. I don't know how much they got into what installation technique he used versus what was appropriate. As to the "holes" issue, he had notified them about that a couple of weeks ago (and had called to tell me they would be coming out to inspect the tiles). Now, they're saying they don't remember the call GC made on the hole issue. On the issue of "how are we moving forward," he now proposes just replacing the several cracked tiles. (When he installed the tiles, he went under the cabinets, removed old baseboard ceramic heaters - I guess he thinks it would be too much trouble to redo all of that). I plan to call the tile store myself and understand what their position is (reminding them of the $$ I spent there on not only the floor tile, but also the marble subway backsplash, and also the hole issue. GC is coming out next week to inspect the tiles himself. I'm skeptical that simply replacing the cracked tiles is the right move (I also noticed cracks in a couple other tiles since last posting - mentioned that to GC and he admitted it must be an installation issue). I'm frustrated, but should also disclose that I really like my GC. He's been very professional, a good guy, pretty responsive and proactive.
