Need advice on babysitters and odd hours

Hi my name is Sara. I have a 17 month old baby girl, I am an RN and my husband is in the Army. We recently relocated to Watertown NY. This is our first child and only family has ever watched her. I would like advice on what to look for in a babysitter and what to pay per hour. Also because I am a nurse and my husband is in the Army the hours and days won't always be consistent for example my shift is 3-11pm,if I was mandated at my job and I had to stay over night until 7am--My husband would have picked up the baby the previous day but he would have to be at work by sixam the next day so I would need the babysitter to watch her from 5-8am. This may or maynot happen but what could I do to compensate them if I even found someone willing to do this. Any advice is greatly appreciated. This is driving me crazy, I'm scared to leave my daughter with anyone especially because she's not talking that much yet. Thanks for listening, Sara

Some hospitals have child care on site for the nurses. Have you looked into that option?

Is there a family member who could help you out and live in your area for awhile, until your little girl is a bit older?
