I don't have pictures of mine. I think you could probably get some good ideas from doing a Google image search on "kid playroom" and "kid bathroom."

I don't have any pictures but I remember being in a kid's bathroom once that I just loved. The walls were white but then the kids' painted handprints were organized all over the wall in different primary colors...am I making sense? Anyway, it was really cute.

We watch TV on my laptop, which has a nice big screen, and I have good speakers attached to the laptop, so it has very good sound. We also watch TV on my desktop computer sometimes, which also has a good-sized screen. You can connect to the TV and watch it on the TV screen, but I've found it isn't necessary, at least for us, to do it that way...we just watch it on the laptop or on the desktop. The networks have TV episodes posted on their websites, and there are a lot of sites like hulu.com where you can watch TV on your computer. We watch House, Fringe, 24, The Office, Parks & Recreation, Better Off Ted, V, the evening news and local news, PBS shows, shows from the History Channel, etc. Lots of TV shows are available to watch online.

Syllabus- Husband and I sort of doctored it up a bit, using various ideas we found on the Internet. I was sure I'd seen a video that gave us a good nudge in the right direction, but I'll be damned if I can find it now! Isn't that always the way? Lol Basically, the way we did it without any special tools or kits, you need to use the laminate sheets rather than the preformed countertops. Build the base of the counter with your plywood or whatever (we had existing countertops which we peeled the old laminate off of, thereby skipping this step). After you have your sink hole cut to size and you know the position of your sink, what you're basically doing is sandwiching the sink between the plywood and the laminate layer. We cut the sink hole in the laminate ahead of time, then epoxied the sink down to the counter, vey much like you would with a standard sink, just laying it in the hole with the edges overlapping. The video I had seen used automotive putty to taper out the edges of the sink itself, much like you putty drywall to smooth out imperfections. We found the putty wasn't drying, and was instead cracking and shrinking. Plan b, plain old wall repair patch, the stuff I keep around for filling nail holes and dents in my walls. Let dry and sand til smooth so that the hard edge of the sink itself is tapered out a few inches in all directions. I painted over the putty just to ensure a nice smooth surface that wouldn't soften or crumble when we put the adhesive over it. Then we used contact cement for the bulk of the laminate, however at the edges around the sink, we went back to the heavy duty marine epoxy, just to ensure it was a solid adhesion. Lay the laminate over the counter, positioning your precut sink hole over the sink (carefully! You only get one shot here!) and roll out to smooth and remove air bubbles. Lastly, I did a thin bead of silicone around the edge of the sink where it meets the Formica. Clear as mud? This would be so much easier to explain with pics or video!

They should have larger sample sizes, so that you can at least put them by a large counter sample, large cabinet door sample, etc. If you can, take them around to different lighting in store or even outside in natural daylight. Careful carrying those quartz or granite samples around though, they are heavy suckers! The lighting in our design centre was pretty bad - made everything look very, very warm, so it was good to move around. LVP certainly is a good option if you are concerned about water. Laminate is okay with small amounts of water as long as you clean it up right away (leaks from dishwashers are another thing, etc), but I can understand with kids and dogs you can't guarantee this! If you go LVP do make sure you get a higher wear layer though with that kind of traffic and wear. 20 mil even at least (40 mil is the highest so far, I think, but it can go all the way down to 4 mil or something which will not last long at all). It is not terrible not to know what your style is, but it would be worth spending some time today and tonight with your partner looking for inspiration photos of what you are attracted to and what not, or even going to some parade homes tonight together (even if from other builders!). We had some general ideas of what we liked before we went in (and some "absolutely not's"), but nothing as specific as showing up with a photo in hand saying "we want THIS kitchen!". This came from looking at various parade homes, spec homes, browsing here, and elsewhere on the internet. For example, we knew we wanted white cabinets and a cleaner more minimalist look for our small kitchen, but wanted an overall "warm" feel to things, picking up from a Scandinavian influence of white combined with warmer wood tones. The interior designer was good at helping us narrow things down from our preferences. For our kitchen for example we ended up with a white cabinet as desired (Alabaster shakers), a warmer white/gray quartz that has brown flecks in it (Caesarstone Bianco Drift), white paint (SW Heron Plume), and a warm blond laminate flooring (Kraus Crossroads Journey) to bring in that warm wood element. I picked out some pendants with a third party lighting store that have a Scandinavian influence. I have yet to see it altogether, but I think ultimately we made good choices. The end result is not going to be what really what I think of as Scandinavian kitchen, but it has the elements we wanted in there and plan to add more of the warmer wood with furniture, cutting boards, etc. I also ended up with more gray than I expected (in counter and backsplash) but it was what appealed to me most in combination with other choices, like the cabinets and flooring. I find I need contrast! We will have complimentary tile in our entry/baths/laundry, and the treads on stairs as well as second floor will be carpet. I just can't seem to break away from the coziness of carpet in bedrooms and such (and I appreciate it in our climate too). You will have so many decisions to make tomorrow (like grout colour) so just take your time :)

We used an overhead projector, traced a Shrek coloring book onto the clear sheets and then traced onto the wall. Then we got the Disney paint from Home Depot (or Lowe's?), and colored it in. We also got a lot of the Disney characters stuffed animals. We didn't know if we were having a girl or a boy, so it is quite unisex. When baby number 2 comes along, I won't need to change anything!! For her bathroom I chose Tropical Frogs at Kohls. It is really cute, different from the regular old green froggy bathroom. Is a kids playroom the same as their bedroom? My kids have never had a bedroom so sorry. But if they did,I would love 2 paint a big mural on the wall. And I've seen blinds that make a picture when there closed like MickeyMouse or the Disney Princess'. I think that was cute.

That is a really neat room, and a very pretty baby. You did such a great job on the painting too.
I just wanted to make note of the fact that you have the cords from the window blind tied up high so the baby can't get hold of them some day.
There have been stories of children strangling themselves on blind or curtain cords so close to the bed. I fasten the cords up on our blinds to keep the kitties safe too.

Sorry Cylince, we have a bedroom, no playroom. I wish I had a playroom, though! I could get all of the toys out of my living room, guest bedroom, kitchen, hallway, foyer, and my own bedroom :)

oh..you may be right. I think she may be the one that lives in the trailer with a lot of problems. Her suggestions to the OP sounded sincere though... I've seen those picture blind things somewhere. Don't know about the other posts of hers though.

Christy I am the OP and I am very sincere in my questions. We just moved into our first home last year and so very new to this decorating thing so I am looking for inspiration to get started on decorating my whole house. Thanks for posting though.
