I have daughter and son 9 years old, they regularly use a computer and frequently look websites in Internet. I want to protect them from the undesirable information. I not good with computer and search a simple program which would help me to supervise my children. I have found the program which quite approaches me - WUPC (http://alsedi.com/web_parental_advisory.php), simple and makes all that is necessary for me, but I interested, may be someone use other programs similar to these? Any advice would really be appreciated. Thanks

RE: Internet Filtering

I found that the best way to filter what my kids did on the computer was to keep the computer in the family room. Everyone was always in there watching TV or reading. That made it kind of hard to go to forbidden web sites.

You'll find, as your kids get older, that the filter will probably prevent them (and you) from doing legitmate research or even browsing or shopping, since those programs don't have fuzzy logic. They can't discern the difference between the National Geographic and a XXX web site. Don't forget the password or you'll forever be locked out of the internet.

RE: Internet Filtering

Best to have a solid plan like momj47 did. As your kids get older and learn more about pc's they can outdo any other program. My daughter is taking IT in school and is almost at my pc level. She can program and build pc's so I have a hard time too. She has a pc in her room but no internet access except in the livingroom.

Best of luck,
Keilamarie
