your favorite gardening chore to do with your grandchildren
Comments (1)How wonderful!! My kids (all teenagers now) HATE gardening with me. But when my mom was alive (she died almost four years ago) they loved going over to her house to help her in the garden. By far their favorite chore was PICKING! Especially when they could pop the produce in their mouths. It was so touching that during the year and a half that she was ill, they volunteered to do some of her gardening chores for her. Keep it up and enjoy her, Cindy!!...See MoreCute things your kids/g-kids do or say?
Comments (12)Oh there are so many, but as per usual I can only remember a few.. Claire used to say "prettyful" as in, "Don't I look prettyful today?" When she was 3 she would gently nudge you with a mean look on her face and say, "Did you like-a dat?" And when we would ask Annie to do something when she was 2 and a half she'd shout, "No! Never!" It was kind of hilarious although it never worked for her. She also called an elevator an "alligator" for a long time. Danielle...See Morehow much real estate do your kids own in your home?
Comments (24)Fun, did you have more than one living space growing up? We had a formal living room and a family room so the family room is where our toys were kept. However, we didn't have nearly the same amount of toys as kids do nowadays! The way our family room was laid out, there was a corner where all the toys were kept. I shared an average size room with my sister, so we didn't have much room for playing in there. I'm sure we did a bit but for the most part, we were in the family room when we were young or outside. I also can't imagine having kids' toys in every room. That would drive me nuts! Most of the houses around here have basements or more than one living area so the basements store the bulk of the toys and then the family room, which is typically open to or next to the kitchen is where the main floor toys are stashed. Having four kids has relaxed my anal tendencies but I still go a little nuts with crap laying around. The peninsula in my kitchen becomes the drop zone but I can't stand having that clutter. And dh is the worst b/c he will leave his stuff there and never come back for it but then get annoyed if I move it or ask him to. He's used to clutter from his childhood. I used to have complete order in the house b/f I went to bed, but now I'm so exhausted by then that I have slacked off a bit and then get all stressed when I come downstairs the next morning to clutter and have to clean up b/f I can function. I'm like that with cooking too - I can't start cooking unless the counters are clear, no dirty dishes out, etc. DH looks at me like I have two heads. Am I the only weird one like that? Oops, sorry, I have a habit off going off on a tangent!...See MoreSo What did you do for your kids
Comments (32)I knew there was a such thing as Children's Day. I just never thought of it as a gift-giving-celebrating-with-family kind of thing. Not like Mother's Day or Valentines Day. I thought it was about awareness- like Earth Day. I didn't think it was about me and my children, but children's issues. Awareness of the issues around children's health/well-being, like disease, poverty, abuse, homelessness, disasters. I would have associated Children's Day with something like a fundraiser, safety fair... a drive for awareness. Not dinners and gifts or family outings. But, I didn't know it was yesterday, or even in June. ;o) So what do I know? Obviously, I didn't do anything out of the ordinary with my kids yesterday. I didn't even take them to the community pool. I did their laundry, and fed them. I left the house for a while so I could come home and be nicer. ;o)...See MoreMichelle_MO
