Some of the old tools have such a graceful shape. My grandmother used to sit on the ground and use grass clippers like the ones in the picture to edge the lawn. hehe! No, I don't think it's all that obvious. Or at least I had never heard of it before finding it in the art dictionary, ArtLex, that I mentioned here before. Here's what they said: bricolage - Something made from whatever materials happen to be available. From the French bricole, meaning a trifle, and which the French used even earlier to mean catapault. Bricolage may be related to bric-a-brac. Quote: ".... Bricolage is a French word. It means to build it yourself." Tom Sachs (contemporary) American artist Don'tcha love it?! :-D Since we go looking for specific items for assemblage, I suppose it's not exactly the same. I guess the Watt's Tower would be a good example of bricolage. But since you "build" or "assemble" these 3D collages, I think that describes it pretty well.

LOL fly "but it honestly wasn't clear to me" Personally I could see right through them. As for the CB2 blueprint chairs they remind me too much of the cheap lawn chairs almost everyone had, but us, way back in the eighties. I doubt any of them are still around since they didn't last long. Well other than the "impression" they left "behind". Maybe CB2 should call their chairs imprint instead. As for your table Malhgold, it reminds me a bit of our old living room tables I updated for our daughter's first apartment. Just used furniture refinisher to remove the finish and then used water based walnut stain (this is part of what helped to achieve the "grain" instead of it soaking in like oil based would have after using any solvent)with a cheap brush that separated easily. And a bit closer of the new look...

I'm not sure how to rearrange the furniture. Unfortunately, this room is our only TV room so we somewhat arranged the furniture to be functional. Ideally, I think the room would look better with 2 sofas facing each other with the shelving unit in the middle of the wall and perhaps a table by the windows but it would be too uncomfortable to watch TV sideways. The room is fairly large so I tried to fill it the best I could. I actually pulled the rug out from underneath the couches so as for it to be closer to the corner sofa couch to include it. If I move the corner couch closer to the couches, it floats in the middle of the room? As for the bench under the window, we use it daily!! The bench by the stairway was an extra that does not have a functional use but rather space filling features:-)
