BM base question

I was wondering if any one knows if the base would change depending on the finish? I was told buxton blue in Regal eggshell was a base 2. Today I decided to get it in the matte/flat finish and when I got home I saw it's base 1 and it looks lighter than I thought it would, although it does match the paint chip.

Paint tinting geniuses are able to adjust their formulae for the wrong base. Like if they are out of the right base, they can still sell you paint that day, without you leaving to go elsewhere. This works only in some colors, and it's up to the experience of the tinter. Like I said some of them are geniuses when it comes to this, but some only think they are.
