Old water stain

Hello,
A question for the experts: I have a ten year old water stain on a cathedral ceiling from a fixed leak that I am going to get the BIG ladder out to repaint . Do I still have to kilz the stain before painting, given its age ?

YES, kilz OIL will work, or Zinsser's cover stain or BIN, nothing water based will work( most likely)

There is a spray version of KILZ meant for sealing old water stains ... it sprays vertically so it's easy to use on ceilings. I've used it and it works very well.
