kitchen cabinets

Hi all, the kitchen forum suggested I come here for my painting questions.

I painted my kitchen cabinets some years ago. I stripped the old paint, primed, and then painted. Now they look pretty beat out and it's time to do it again.

Are there any steps to take to make the paint job last longer. This time I think I will use an oil based primer. Anything else.

Thanks for your answers
