| We've got cedar siding going up on the side of our house. The siding is slightly rough - it has a rabbeted edge. Our contractor had the stain - semi-transparent - applied at the mill / lumberyard. The problem is that the stain is uneven. There are spots that look like the wood has been covered with a opaque paint and spots that look like the wood is raw. I wish i would have asked for a sample before we placed the order for this wood. We opted for a light gray color = which i don't even like - it just looks dirty. I wish I would have opted not to have stain applied and let the cedar to age to a silver / gray naturally. My question is what to do?
1) apply a second coat? (or will it look even more uneven?)
the other problem is that we have some cedar that is under an overhang and will get very little weather exposure other than air and dampness... help - i can post photos - but i haven't figured out how... |

| i was just on the cabot website. I think what i should have done the first time around is a mix of bleaching oil and stain. Can i put bleaching oil OVER semi-transparent stain? What would happen. Semi-transparent stain is the color of weathered wood (a light gray). thanks. |
