| Hi everyone, Just moved into a house and we're about to get to work painting likely every inch of wall, ceiling and trim. The previous owners have the ceilings painted in a pretty good sheen (at least eggshell, maybe semi-gloss) and it looks, well, not great. I grabbed some Ben ceiling paint but was wondering if I need to prime before I put such a flat paint over glossy, or if it would adhere fine without it. I've read advice saying I should lightly sand the surface, prime it, or do both. I want to do everything the right way, but if I can get away with not sanding all of my ceilings, that'd be preferable. Any experience or advice with this? Thanks! |

| I would give the ceilings a quick pole sanding if it was my house and then one coat primer followed by one coat flat ceiling paint. If this is a kitchen ceiling, I may wash it first. |
