SW Duration - Not liking it

I bought SW Duration Matte because I had a $10 coupon and the SW is only 3 miles from home. I got one half wall up and I really don't like it. For "premium" paint I thought it was very thin and it seems like no matter how long I shake the container (plastic w/twist off lid) or how long I stir with a lifting motion, the colorant doesn't seem to want to blend in. The most recent paint I've used is BM Regal or Natura, so I've used better quality paint before.

Anyone else had these problems?

I've used Duration on two rooms without any problems. Since it's only 3 miles from home, take it back and (oh, I can't help myself) ask how, ask now, ask Sherwin-Williams.

Just because paint is thin doesn't mean that it is bad paint. Usually what makes a paint thick is cheap additives like chalk and clay and these obviously are not the kinds of things you want in paint. If you have colorant in the paint, it could be an issue with the shaker at the paint store and have nothing to do with the fact that it is Duration. You should not have to stir paint that you just purchased to get rid of colorant swirls. Perhaps they just didnt' shake it long enough.

That's one of my two issues with Duration. It needs to be stirred almost constantly. I found it pretty easy to paint with and it gave a good result, though.
My other issue is that the "Matte" finish is more like a heavy eggshell finish-too much sheen for my taste. I used it with some pretty potent pinks in a kid's room so the sheen isn't objectionable in that context, but I won't use it again.

Aura Matte. Say it with me now....

Well, it went up okay, but it splattered a bit and was 'drippier' than I'm used to. I read on here that it needs to applied SLOWLY. Once I slowed down, I got less splatter. I just kept a wet rag handy to wipe the drips and splatters off the woodwork. I did have to keep mixing though. The yellow tint just didn't want to mix in. I have a couple more walls to finish the second coat. I agree with the sheen issue. It's definitely not flat or my definition of matte. It's the same as the BM eggshell I had up before. It wasn't a big deal, as I usually do an eggshell anyway, just thought I'd try a flatter finish since it's above a chair rail in a room we rarely use.

I wanted to do Aura, but honestly was a little scared. I've got 3 kidlets, so my painting is often interupped when I have to play referee or answer the 'MOM!' call. I was afraid that Aura wouldn't allow me to do this. Duration, I think was a little more forgiving in this instance.

I'm pretty pleased with the color and final outcome, but don't think I'd use it again, plus I don't have a $10 off coupon anymore : 0 ).

I'm linking to a picture. The window blinds are open & chandelier is on so there's some harsh light and shadows.

Here is a link that might be useful: Duration on walls
